Evaluation Of Serum Nt-Probnp Levels In Dogs With Respiratory Distress Associated With Heart Disease And Respiratory Disease, Amornrate Sastravaha, Santi Kaewmokul, Pareeya Udomkusonsri, Naris Thengchaisri

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The association between severity of heart disease and serum N-terminal prohormone B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) was determined in dogs presented with respiratory distress. Four groups of dogs were divided into healthy control (n=11), heart failure (n=58), heart disease without heart failure (n=17) and respiratory disease (n=20). Serum NT-proBNP concentrations were measured with an ELISA designed for using in dogs. Dirofilaria antigen tests were detected in dogs with heart disease or heart failure. Serum NT-proBNP concentrations of dogs with heart failure (2,977±184 pmol/l) were significantly higher than dogs with heart disease (611±46 pmol/l), respiratory disease (583±52 pmol/l) or physically healthy (426±32 …

Clinical, Radiographic And Pathological Features Of Persistent Gastroesophageal Intussusception In An Adult Dog: A Case Report, Theerayuth Kaewamatawong, Wijit Banlunara, Varaporn Wangrattanaparanee, Srireepong Kiertkrittikhoon

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The aim of this report is to describe the clinical, radiographic and pathological appearances of a persistent gastroesophageal intussusception in associated with idiopathic egaesophagus in an adult dog. A 6-years old, male Golden Retriever was referred for evaluation of chronic regurgitation and vomiting. Radiographic diagnosis of persistent gastroesophageal intussusception (GEI) with megaesophagus was made. Survey and contrast radiography evidenced a distension of the esophageal medial and caudal portions due to a dense soft-tissue mass and the barium cloud not pass to abdominal portion, where outlined the striations of muscle of the distal esophagus around the mass.Necropsy findings revealed a completed …

Investigation Of Antimicrobial Susceptibility For Enterococci Isolated From Cats And Dogs And The Determination Of Resistance Genes By Polymerase Chain Reaction, Süheyla Türkyilmaz, Vasfi̇ye Erdem, Bülent Bozdoğan

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility and to determinate the resistance genes by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) among enterococci isolated from healthy cats and dogs in İzmir, Turkey. From a total of 114 rectal swabs, 91 (31 cats and 60 dogs) stains were isolated as enterococci. Twenty eight isolates were identified as Enterococcus faecalis and 63 as Enterococcus faecium with the API 20 IDStrep system. Antimicrobial susceptibilities were determined by disc diffusion. Susceptibility rates of all enterococci strains were found as 100.0%, 95.6%, 94.5%, 87.9%, 84.6%, 30.8%, 29.7%, and 0.0% for teicoplanin, penicillin, vancomycine, chloramphenicol, …
