Maintaining intravenous (IV) access is a vital part of providing care in critical care areas of nursing. It allows for continuous therapies, blood draws, complicated scans, and emergency treatment when needed. There are current procedures for obtaining IV access that are guaranteed to have a successful attempt and placement of a long catheter in a deeper vein. Esophageal stenosis after radiotherapy occurs in up to 15% of patients within three months of treatment. Endoscopic dilation remains the standard of care for cervical esophageal stenosis with refractory cases requiring stenting. Proximal stenosis poses a challenge as standard esophageal stents can cause cervicalgia and globus sensation due to their size and expansive force. We report on the usage of a biliary SEMS for a severe-recurrent stricture at the level of the proximal esophageal sphincter.

Parkinson’s disease (PD), a neurodegenerative disorder, is the second most common neurological illness in United States. Neurologically, it is characterized by the selective degeneration of a unique population of cells, the nigrostriatal dopamine neurons. The current treatment is symptomatic and mainly involves replacement of dopamine deficiency.This therapy improves only motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and is associated with a number of adverse effects including dyskinesia. BACKGROUND: Regulatory T lymphocytes (Treg) infiltrate human glioblastoma (GBM); are involved in tumor progression and correlate with tumor grade. Transient elimination of Tregs using CD25 depleting antibodies (PC61) has been found to mediate GBM regression in preclinical models of brain tumors. Clinical trials that combine Treg depletion with tumor vaccination are underway to determine whether transient Treg depletion can enhance anti-tumor immune responses and improve long term survival in cancer patients. FINDINGS: Using a syngeneic intracrabial glioblastoma (GBM) mouse model we show that systemic depletion of Tregs 15 days after tumor implantation using PC61 resulted in a decrease in Tregs …
