Specular Microscopic Evaluation Of Corneal Endothelium After Intravitreal Injection Of Ranibizumab For Treatment Of Diabetic Macular Edema, Ahmed Mahmoud Ahmed Elarabi, Mohamed Zakaria Eid, Hatem Mahmoud Samy Abdelkawy Jan 2024

Specular Microscopic Evaluation Of Corneal Endothelium After Intravitreal Injection Of Ranibizumab For Treatment Of Diabetic Macular Edema, Ahmed Mahmoud Ahmed Elarabi, Mohamed Zakaria Eid, Hatem Mahmoud Samy Abdelkawy

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: The eye disorder known as diabetes-related macular edema (DME) is frequent and dangerous. DME is one of the easiest conditions to treat even though it can cause vision impairment. Photocoagulation, intravitreal medicines, in addition to surgical excision are some of the therapy options that are currently available. Aim of the work: to evaluate how intravitreal Ranibizumab injections affected corneal endothelial changes over the course of 3 months in patients diagnosed with DME. Patients and Methodology: A case-control study at Giza Memorial Institute of Ophthalmic Research from May 2022 till Nov 2022. compared patients with DM who have good glycemic …

Assessment Of Changes In The Anterior Segment By Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography And Intraocular Pressure After Phacoemulsification In Glaucomatous And Non-Glaucomatous Patients, Mahmoud Abd El-Haleem Soliman Rabee, Hassan Metwally Bayoumy, Osama Ramadan Mahmoud Jan 2024

Assessment Of Changes In The Anterior Segment By Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography And Intraocular Pressure After Phacoemulsification In Glaucomatous And Non-Glaucomatous Patients, Mahmoud Abd El-Haleem Soliman Rabee, Hassan Metwally Bayoumy, Osama Ramadan Mahmoud

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Phacoemulsification is widely recognized as the prevailing ocular surgical procedure conducted on a global scale. Multiple studies have provided evidence of a decrease in intraocular pressure (IOP) following phacoemulsification. The assessment of anatomical features in the anterior chamber has emerged as a key area of interest in determining the extent of IOP reduction following cataract surgery. Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography(AS-OCT) has recently emerged as an objective and noninvasive method to assess the anterior chamber anatomy. Aim of the work: The aim of the work is to study the effect of phacoemulsification on the anterior chamber and IOP in …

Assessment Of Choroidal Neovascular Membrane By Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography, Mohamed Ahmed Ahmed Elmalah, Mohamed Abd Elmoamen Mohamed Saad Eldeen, Shady Kassem Hussien Kassem Jan 2024

Assessment Of Choroidal Neovascular Membrane By Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography, Mohamed Ahmed Ahmed Elmalah, Mohamed Abd Elmoamen Mohamed Saad Eldeen, Shady Kassem Hussien Kassem

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: As an alternative to invasive Fundus fluorescein angiography) FFA), Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) can be used to scan chorio-retinal vasculature. Aim: Research OCT-A for sings of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) and its unique structure. In order to detect any current CNV activity, OCT-A can be used. Determine the sensitivity of OCT-A for detecting CNV activity and compare it with FFA and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD- OCT). Patients and Methods: Thirty eyes with various sources of CNV diagnosis were enrolled in this prospective study to compare OCT-A, SD- OCT and FFA. Study was conducted at Al-Azhar University Hospitals and …

Evaluation Of Neuroretinal Changes In Type Ii Diabetes Mellitus Without Diabetic Retinopathy Using Optical Coherence Tomography, Abd El-Magid Mohamed Tag El-Din, Anas M. Ibrahim, Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Jan 2024

Evaluation Of Neuroretinal Changes In Type Ii Diabetes Mellitus Without Diabetic Retinopathy Using Optical Coherence Tomography, Abd El-Magid Mohamed Tag El-Din, Anas M. Ibrahim, Ahmed Mohamed Hassan

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Microaneurysm proliferation is the hallmark of the early stages of DR. it is the mild form of NPDR. with increased severity , the progression to PDR occurred which is characterized by the formation of new blood vessels on the retina and posterior surface of the vitreous, and it develops from moderate or severe NPDR by a process of increased vascular permeability & occlusion. Aim of the study: to assess neurodegeneration in individuals with type II diabetes mellitus (DM2) who do not have diabetic retinopathy. Patients and methods: full ophthalmic examination and Spectralis OCT was performed on 50 eyes of …

Phacoemulsification In Cases Of Zonular Weakness Using In Situ Nuclear Disassembly Without Nuclear Rotation, Mohammed Abdel Moneim Mahdy, Hossam Zeyada, Youssef Hassan Mohammed Ibrahim Mansour Jan 2024

Phacoemulsification In Cases Of Zonular Weakness Using In Situ Nuclear Disassembly Without Nuclear Rotation, Mohammed Abdel Moneim Mahdy, Hossam Zeyada, Youssef Hassan Mohammed Ibrahim Mansour

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Due to zonular dehiscence or weakness, cataract surgery may result in late intraocular lens subluxation or dislocation, vitreous loss, dropped nuclei fragments, or all of these complications. Aim of the work: The objective of this study is to evaluate the occurrence and intensity of intraoperative problems in pseudoexfoliation (PEX) cases when employing in situ nuclear disassembly without nuclear rotation. Patients and methods: On 100 eyes of 100 cases with zonular weakness, this prospective, interventional, comparative study was carried out. Fifty patients undergoing phacoemulsification with in situ nuclear disassembly and the other 50 patients undergoing conventional chopping technique whom were …
