From 1989 to 1991, five cases of humeral shaft fractures and one case of ulnar shaft pathological fracture were treated with the low temperature thermoplastic functional fracture brace, while three cases of lumbar spine fractures were treated with a custom-made spinal brace molded by low temperature thermoplastics.All patients with humeral shaft fractures achieved bone healing within 8 to 12 weeks. There was varus angulation averaging 7°and anterior angulation averaging 8°present. The majority of patients were found to have minimal loss of range of motion in the shoulder.
