Stress is defined as the “nonspecific response of the body to any demand made upon it” (Kohn & Frazer, 1986). Stress is among the top five threats to academic performance among college students (Pettit & DeBarr, 2011). The purpose of the study was to investigate whether stress affects perceived sleep quality, as mediated by social support, and to determine whether stress levels vary based on academic major. This phenomenological qualitative study explores the relationship quality of siblings who both attend Cedarville University. This study seeks to identify commonalities and key components to close sibling relationships. The desire to attend the same school, or remain close to a sibling was explored, as well. Questions specifically focused on family life growing up, and current family life, while attending Cedarville University. These questions were designed to gain background information, while also gaining insight to current relationship quality and conflict. In the present qualitative study, researchers focused on the similarities among college-aged military kids due to similar upbringings and shared experiences. The study was conducted through semi-structured interviews in which participants were asked to draw conclusions between past experiences and present attitudes. Researchers found major themes during the interviews and the themes of military pride, respect, and acculturation are the focus of the current presentation.

The purpose of the study was to better understand if social support has an effect at all on the athlete’s compliance in coming in to do their rehabilitation during an injury. Those who participated in this study were from the colleges and universities in the state of Ohio. The participants were collegiate athletes who were in a rehabilitation program for six or more weeks and had returned to play. Of the 56 surveys returned, 18 (32.14%) of those were fully completed, and nine (16.07%) of those, consisting of seven (77.78%) females and two (22.22%) males, met the criteria set. Athletes …

Purpose: The purpose of this review is to examine the effects of vocational support programs versus the absence of vocational support programs on employment rates, social skills, and quality of life of transition-aged youth diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and related diagnoses.

Methods: The CINAHL, Cochrane Collection Plus, Medline, PubMed, and UpToDate databases were searched for articles pertaining to our purpose statement. Four reviewers analyzed the articles for results and extracted data regarding sample characteristics, treatment characteristics, assessment tools, and outcomes.

The United States has not held the protection of this population’s civil rights with proper priority. It has been found that juvenile delinquents usually possess inaccurate explanations or thoughts about their experiences, which are called as cognitive distortions. The prior findings also suggested that juvenile delinquents’ antisocial behaviors are associated with their cognitive distortions. Therefore, many juvenile centers utilized cognitive treatment programs and tried to reduce juvenile delinquents’ cognitive distortions. Thus, it is useful to measure the changes of juvenile delinquents’ cognitive distortions in a rehabilitation center to design treatment plans and evaluate its effectiveness.

Abuse among mentally ill inmates is a relevant issue in prison systems worldwide. This presentation will focus on the pervasiveness and severity of this abuse in the US and abroad. Pertinent statistics regarding the prevalence of abuse among the mentally ill in prison systems, as well as the obstacles to obtaining such statistics will be presented. Following the major deinstitutionalization of mental hospitals in the 1970s, the mentally ill inmate population has seen exponential increase in the United States.
