New graduate nurses report critical hands-on skills are not taught in school and contribute to the increased stress they feel when managing a life-threatening patient condition (Bennett et al., 2017). In the United States, approximately 290,000 in-hospital cardiac arrests occur annually (Andersen et al., 2019). The current Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum at a large university in northern New Jersey does not include the implementation of a high-fidelity cardiac arrest simulation.
