Childhood obesity rates are continuously rising despite efforts to curb the trend. Sedentary behaviors and lower socioeconomic communities have been linked to the overall increase in childhood obesity rates. Additionally, poor understanding of childhood obesity and its adverse effects, has been shown to contribute to the increase in sedentary behaviors of children. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of an after school, childhood obesity program and its effects on physical activity and nutrition behaviors and knowledge base.
