Effective communication happens when the sender of the message sends it, and it is conveyed and understood by the receiver (Gilbert & Hayes, 2009). Medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the United States alone (McMains, 2016). The Joint Commission (TJC) (2019) implemented National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) in 2002, and improving communication among caregivers has been a goal that has been frequently revised. Due to ineffective communication, life-threatening errors are created among healthcare workers.
