The purpose of this quality improvement project was too assess the knowledge and attitudes of nursing staff toward assessing patients diagnosed with alcohol dependence who are detoxing from alcohol in a mental health facility. This study examined the effectiveness of an educational intervention for healthcare clinicians to increase knowledge and awareness of non-benzodiazepine treatments for the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders. The target population were healthcare clinicians in a metropolitan area that commonly treat anxiety and panic disorders. Clinicians from different specialties were recruited to participate and evaluated on their knowledge of benzodiazepines on a 3-question pretest survey using a Likert scale. The clinician was then given a 30-minute educational intervention that covered the risks and dangers of benzodiazepines and a review of alternative, non-benzodiazepine treatment options. The present study investigated the effects of introducing an educational intervention to enhance the knowledge of family and obstetric providers in the rural area on the benefits of Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARCs) use in teens. Teen pregnancy is associated with many different health risks including eclampsia, endometritis, and systemic infections. The purpose of this project was to compare student satisfaction in high- and low-fidelity simulation experiences. The project took place at the Pittsburg State University Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing. Participants included 79 pre-licensure Fundamentals of Nursing students in their first semester of nursing school. Implementation took place in the Fall of 2022. Students underwent either a high- or low-fidelity patient simulation experience related to pneumonia. Upon completion of the scenario students were asked to voluntarily participate in a satisfaction questionnaire. The questionnaire was composed of 27 closed-ended questions. A large Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Southeast Kansas has a 37% compliance of children completing the recommended combo 10 primary vaccination series before their second birthday. An additional 20% of children would be compliant if the flu vaccine was excluded, raising the compliance rate to 57%. Bronchiolitis is the leading cause of hospital admission for infants. Eighty percent of bronchiolitis cases are caused by the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). While guidelines on the treatment of RSV/bronchiolitis have been published since 2006, the literature reveals that they are not widely followed.
