Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent mental illness in the United States (US) and holistic treatment approaches, such as vinyasa yoga, are often practiced to alleviate the severity of symptoms (The Anxiety and Depression Association of America, 2020). A comprehensive literature review including evidence-based research, Metis-based knowledge, and personal accounts are used to support this scholarly project. Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring is explicated and synthesized as a theoretical framework. Methodology and evaluation of the scholarly project are described, analyzed, and reflected that vinyasa yoga has a positive impact on individuals who experience anxiety. The Mentorship Through Storytelling Program began in response to an urgent need to reduce registered nurse (RN) turnover rates and improve nurses’ satisfaction on a medical surgical unit in a Midwestern Hospital. The unit was challenged to hire, integrate, and retain a multigenerational team of RNs. Guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring, the Mentorship Through Storytelling Program was initiated in the fall of 2018 after doing a broad literature review and adapting the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses’ Mentorship Program to include the concepts of storytelling, mentoring, and caring. Palliative care is aimed at alleviating the suffering of patients with serious or chronic illnesses. Literature examined to determine the needs of seriously or chronically ill patients and their farnilies found patients to have physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs while coping with their illness. In addition, patients' family needed support in physical care of their loved ones, as well as information and psychosocial needs for themselves. The role of the hematology ambulatory registered nurse (HARN) is currently disorganized at a large Midwestern clinic. Cumently the HARN is responsible for telephone care, lab results, prescription refills, patient education, submitting forms, and helping patients with miscellaneous items. The HARN is pulled in several directions throughout the day. With healthcare reimbursement changing, there is a growing need for HARNs to be utilized to one's fullest potential and licensure. Father involvement has been reported to have a positive relationship with children outcomes. The goal of this project is to empower young fathers by providing a safe home. The Malaika project will provide safe housing for young fathers age l8-21. Providing housing stability could potentially increase the parental involvement of the young father. Prognosis for terminally ill patients is intended to serve the purpose of educating patients on the expected clinical outcome of their illness. This information is generally communicated to a patient by their primary physician when options for fufiher treattnent or "cure" are limited. In the United States, nearly all women choose to give birth in a hospital and a large majority of women intend to nourish their baby with breast milk. In the hospital setting, the perinatal nurse is vital in supporting, educating, and caring for new mothers as they learn to breastfeed their baby. An event reporting system that is intended for the documentation and reporting of near-miss events involving defective medical devices is an important component of a healthcare facilities' safety culture and enables the staff to exercise a stewardship role focused on reducing healthcare costs. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota does have an internal near-miss documentation system in place to report near-miss events that arise from the discovery and removal of a medical device that is defective before potential harm can occur.
