The purpose of this paper is to highlight the individual who suffers from type 1 diabetes, because there appears to be a disparity in the equity of their healthcare needs as compared to other chronic illness. Type 1 diabetes is a progressive illness that places a tremendous burden on the person inflicted with it, including emotional, physical, and financial strains, and these burdens contribute to an emotional condition known as diabetic distress (Orben et al., 2022).
