Block Charting For Hemodynamic Unstable Patients, Tasha Walker Dec 2023

Block Charting For Hemodynamic Unstable Patients, Tasha Walker

Student Scholarly Projects

Practice Problem: The intensive care unit poses many challenges for nurses. Nurses are placed in a position to decide on dosing and administration, which could conflict with their scope of practice, and documentation needs to coincide with orders. The accuracy of nursing documentation plays a vital role in measuring the outcomes, and failure to document accurately could result in noncompliance with scope of practice or a medication error.

PICOT: For intensive care nurses (P), how does block charting of vasoactive medications (I) compared to current documentation practices (C) affect the accuracy of nurses' documentation (O) within 4 weeks?

Evidence: Nursing …

Shared Governance And Transition Into Practice: Impact On Work Engagement, Gudrun M. Reiter-Hiltebrand

Student Scholarly Projects

Practice Problem: High turnover rates, particularly in new graduate nurses, and poor organizational commitment and engagement negatively affect staffing, operational performance, and patient outcomes. A negative trend for nurse engagement indicators was noted in previous staff engagement surveys of this organization.

PICOT: The PICOT question that guided this project was: In transition-into-practice (TIP) nurses (P), how does the implementation of shared governance (I) compared with no shared governance participation (C), affect their engagement with the hospital (O) within eight weeks (T)?

Evidence: Literature has shown that nurse engagement is one of the nurse indicators positively affected by shared governance …

Evidence-Based Best Practice Toolkit For Competency-Based Orientation In Integrating An Adult Pneumococcal Protocol To Improve Vaccine Rate: A Program Evaluation Review, Magda Angel Cifuentes Apr 2022

Evidence-Based Best Practice Toolkit For Competency-Based Orientation In Integrating An Adult Pneumococcal Protocol To Improve Vaccine Rate: A Program Evaluation Review, Magda Angel Cifuentes

Student Scholarly Projects

Practice Problem: Low pneumococcal vaccine uptake among high-risk adults is partly due to underutilized or lack of nurse-driven vaccine protocols, limited understanding of vaccine intervals and indications by nurses, and lack of proper training. Currently, physician-driven orders are the only avenue for high-risk adults to obtain this vaccine in ambulatory sites.

PICOT: In adults 65 years or older within an ambulatory setting, does the use of an adult pneumococcal vaccine protocol, compared to a physician order (no vaccine protocol) impact the rate of vaccination over 2 months?

Evidence: Utilization of two or more interventions provided higher immunization rates. …

Reducing The Incidence Of Compassion Fatigue In Obstetrical Nurses, Naveen Samuel Jul 2021

Reducing The Incidence Of Compassion Fatigue In Obstetrical Nurses, Naveen Samuel

Student Scholarly Projects

Practice Problem: Compassion fatigue is a growing problem that can affect 21% to 39% of nurses who work in hospital settings (Berger et al., 2015). Compassion fatigue has been further exacerbated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Compassion fatigue negatively impacts the nurses in profound physical and emotional ways.

PICOT: The PICOT question that guided this project was: For obstetrical nurses working in a nonprofit organization, what is the effect of a compassion fatigue program, compared with no program, on nurses in reducing compassion fatigue after two months?

Evidence: Current evidence shows that mindfulness decreases compassion fatigue and increases compassion …
