United Kingdom and the United States are two dissimilar health systems each having uniquely differing focuses, where the primary differences are a parliamentary verses a republic government application toward the socioeconomic requirements of the populace. The purpose of this paper is to review the research of new residency programs on Generation Y retention and the quality implications that influence the organization. General orientation of all nurses upon hire has been the standard practice with preceptoring of senior nurses from the individual units. The process of each unit’s orientation and standards was different without respect to the individual nurse’s experience. The aim of this integrative literature review is to explore and discuss palliative care placement within the trajectory of heart failure in the end stage process. After an extensive search through 200 peer-reviewed studies published from 2009-2013 in the following databases: CINAHL, Academic Search Elite, Health Source Consumer Source Edition, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, MEDLINE, Academic Collection (EBSCOhost), seven articles meeting the constraints were chosen..
