Evaluation Of Caring Behaviors In High-Fidelity Simulation Following A Caring Concept Educational Intervention, Debra Ann Mcwilliams Dec 2023

Evaluation Of Caring Behaviors In High-Fidelity Simulation Following A Caring Concept Educational Intervention, Debra Ann Mcwilliams

Theses & Dissertations

Background.

Simulation has created a new paradigm in nursing education. Behaviors that demonstrate caring are important aspects of quality nursing practice. Nursing education needs to integrate opportunities to teach caring, and simulation is an ideal environment to do this. Faculty must assist nursing students to establish competence in psychomotor, cognitive, and the affective domains of learning. Many of the widely used, standardized scenarios in simulation predominantly focus on critical-thinking skills while marginalizing the demonstration of caring behaviors.

Purpose.

The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the effect of a caring concept educational intervention (CCEI) in students’ self-reported confidence …

Using Online Teaching Resources To Increase Nursing Students' Knowledge And Assessment Skills Of Skin Cancer, Victoria Siegel Edd, Cns, Rn, Geraldine Ann Moore Edd, Rn, Bc, Ae-C, Leeann Siegel

Faculty Works: NUR (2010-2023)

Nurses are in an excellent position to teach the public about skin cancer prevention and perform cancer screenings. This study was designed to test an educational intervention intended to teach nursing students about skin cancer so they can reach competence and be certified by faculty to educate their patients. Similarly, students are educated and certified in other areas, namely asthma and naloxone administration. By conducting this quasi-experimental study, the researchers sought to evaluate the effectiveness of adding online skin cancer education to traditional educational methods. Using a quasi-experimental design, we assigned nursing students (n = 146) to either an intervention …

A web-based survey was e-mailed to 63 INCFCC members …

All Nurses Need To Be Research Nurses, Heather Reens Msn, Rn, Patricia A. Eckardt Phd, Rn Apr 2018

All Nurses Need To Be Research Nurses, Heather Reens Msn, Rn, Patricia A. Eckardt Phd, Rn

Faculty Works: NUR (2010-2023)

• Nurses are the largest workforce in healthcare (Bevans, et al., 2011)

Nurses need to be prepared to balance fidelity to protocol and patient care (Hastings et al., 2012).

Education can prepare entry level nurses with a foundation in Clinical research nursing and GCP (Garner, Spencer, & Beal, 2016)

Educating Nursing Students For Practice In The 21st Century, Jennifer Emilie Mannino Ph.D., R.N., Elizabeth Cotter Ph.D, R.N. Jan 2016

Educating Nursing Students For Practice In The 21st Century, Jennifer Emilie Mannino Ph.D., R.N., Elizabeth Cotter Ph.D, R.N.

Faculty Works: NUR (2010-2023)

Nurses face a number of challenges in the 21st century. One major challenge pertains to nursing education, specifically to the entry into practice preparation of undergraduate nursing students. Not only do nurses need to be adequately prepared to care for an ever increasing complex patient population, but they are called upon to be leaders in healthcare. The ways in which nurses were educated during the 20th century are no longer adequate for dealing with the realities of health care today; and having a baccalaureate degree alone does not always prepare new graduate nurses for the complexities of today’s health care …

The Impact Of Technology-Enhanced Learning Activities On Nursing Student Engagement In The Classroom, Alicia A. Stone Nov 2015

The Impact Of Technology-Enhanced Learning Activities On Nursing Student Engagement In The Classroom, Alicia A. Stone

Theses & Dissertations

Educating student nurses in the present environment requires professors to stay current with new methodologies as well as innovations in technology. The question is how to address both the impact of technology and the skills of clinical reasoning, and keep the students involved in the material. If there can be integration of each aspect through the use of technology-enhanced learning activities on the internet and preparation to approach the issue, then perhaps this can increase success. This is a quasi-experimental intervention study that explored the impact of a case study blogging assignment on the engagement of students enrolled in a …

Field-Testing A Pc Electronic Documentation System Using The Clinical Care Classification© System With Nursing Students, Jennifer Emilie Mannino Ph.D., R.N., Veronica D. Feeg Ph.D., R.N., Faan Feb 2011

Field-Testing A Pc Electronic Documentation System Using The Clinical Care Classification© System With Nursing Students, Jennifer Emilie Mannino Ph.D., R.N., Veronica D. Feeg Ph.D., R.N., Faan

Faculty Works: NUR (2010-2023)

Schools of nursing are slow in training their students to keep up with the fast approaching era of electronic healthcare documentation. This paper discusses the importance of nursing documentation, and describes the field-testing of an electronic health record, the Sabacare Clinical Care Classification (CCC©) system. The PC-CCC©, designed as a Microsoft Access® application, is an evidence-based electronic documentation system available via free download from the internet. A sample of baccalaureate nursing students from a mid-Atlantic private college used this program to document the nursing care they provided to patients during their sophomore level clinical experience. This paper summarizes the design, …
