Models For Predicting Incident Delirium In Hospitalized Older Adults: A Systematic Review, Sundeep Kalimisetty, Wajih Askar, Brenda Fay, Ariba Khan
Models For Predicting Incident Delirium In Hospitalized Older Adults: A Systematic Review, Sundeep Kalimisetty, Wajih Askar, Brenda Fay, Ariba Khan
Brenda Fay
Purpose The purpose of this systematic review is to summarize the reported risk prediction models and identify the most prevalent factors for incident delirium in older inpatient populations (age ≥ 65 years). In the future, these risk factors could be used to develop a delirium risk prediction model in the electronic health record that can be used by the Hospital Elder Life Program to reduce the incidence of delirium. Methods A medical librarian customized and conducted a search strategy for all published articles on delirium prediction models using an array of electronic databases and specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Then, …

Models For Predicting Incident Delirium In Hospitalized Older Adults: A Systematic Review, Sundeep Kalimisetty, Wajih Askar, Brenda Fay, Ariba Khan
Ariba Khan, MD, MPH
Background: Delirium is common in hospitalized older adults, and 40% of cases may be preventable. Hospital Elder Life Program is an evidence-based program to reduce incidence of delirium. It has been successfully implemented in one hospital and will be implemented in four other hospitals. Identification of patients at highest risk of developing delirium using the electronic health record (EHR) may be an effective targeted strategy to reduce the incidence of delirium.
Purpose: To systematically review and summarize the medical literature regarding risk prediction models for delirium in older inpatients.
Methods: A medical librarian customized and conducted the search strategy for …

To estimate the prevalence and identify factors associated with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among men and women in Karachi, Pakistan. We conducted a cross-sectional study of adult men and women in a peri-urban community of Karachi (Jam Kandah). Households were selected through systematic sampling from within all villages in the study area. All available adults within each household were interviewed about potential HCV risk factors. A blood specimen was collected to test for anti-HCV antibodies by enzyme immunoassay. We used generalized estimating equations while accounting for correlation of responses within villages to identify the factors associated with HCV infection. …
Psychosocial Functioning Problems Over Time Among High Risk Youths: A Latent Class Transition Analysis, Richard Dembo, Jennifer Wareham, Norman Poythress, Kathleen Meyers
Psychosocial Functioning Problems Over Time Among High Risk Youths: A Latent Class Transition Analysis, Richard Dembo, Jennifer Wareham, Norman Poythress, Kathleen Meyers
Norman Poythress
The authors report the results of latent class analyses and latent class transition analyses of antisocial behavior risk factors among 137 youths participating in a juvenile diversion program. The study examined the youths’ latent classifications using baseline and 1-year follow-up measures of family, peer, education, and mental health risk factors. Latent class transition analyses were conducted to determine the stability and change of latent class membership across two time points. For both baseline and follow-up measures, latent class analyses suggested that two latent classes were most appropriate for characterizing the youths using the four domains of risk factors. One class …
