Background: To assess when residents become proficient in performing flexible nasolaryngoscopy (FNL) in the pediatric population.

Objective: To objectively evaluate the quality of FNL by year of residency training.

Methods: Ninety-five pediatric FNL’s were performed by otolaryngology residents and pediatric otolaryngology fellows (postgraduate year [PGY] 1 – 6). Three pediatric otolaryngologists rated the FNL videos (anonymized and without sound) using the Modified Cormack-Lehane scoring system (MCLS). Data analysis was performed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey-Kramer adjustment.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious and common complication in critically ill pediatric patients. The incidence of pediatric AKI continues to increase, especially in patients who undergo surgical correction of congenital heart defects. Serum creatinine and urine output are the most commonly used tools to assess renal function, with international guidelines standardizing AKI-definitions based upon these parameters. However, changes in serum creatinine can occur 24 hours or later after a renal insult event, delaying the diagnosis and potential interventions to reverse injury. Introduction: Research capacity building is a critical component of professional development for pediatrician scientists, yet this process has been elusive in the literature. The ECHO IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network (ISPCTN) seeks to implement pediatric trials across medically underserved and rural populations. Electronic clinical decision support (ECDS) tools are often developed within quality improvement (QI) projects to increase adherence with the latest clinical practice guidelines. However, the potential reach and maintenance of ECDS use beyond the time and location of their associated project are very limited. Background: The effects of marijuana on the cardiac conduction system are ill defined. The purpose of this study is to describe the association between electrocardiogram (ECG) findings and positive urine drug screening (+UDS) for marijuana in the pediatric population. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted through the electronic medical record from Emergency Department (ED) visits dated 10/13- 11/14 of patients ≤ 18 years of age who tested positive for marijuana exposure by +UDS in the ED.
