Background & Hypothesis: Research has revealed a high prevalence of depression, anxiety, and burnout among medical students accompanied by widespread lack of treatment. We hypothesize that by leveraging our study findings examining the use of telemental health(TMH) among youth (ages 14-24) alongside results from existing research focused on the mental health needs of medical students (median age at start 22-24 years old), we will gain valuable insight into the potential for TMH to address the needs of this high-risk population.

Methods: Using the Delphi method, a sample of 25 experts were surveyed anonymously, thus avoiding group pressure for conformity while …

Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma Subtype Is An Independent Predictor Of Better Survival In Patients With Lung Adenocarcinoma, Takefumi Komiya Md Sep 2018

Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma Subtype Is An Independent Predictor Of Better Survival In Patients With Lung Adenocarcinoma, Takefumi Komiya Md

PCI Publications and Projects

Background:

Clear cell adenocarcinoma (CCA) has been considered as a rare subtype of lung adenocarcinoma. However, the 2011 World Health Organization (WHO) classification of lung adenocarcinoma proposed to discontinue CCA due to lack of available data with clinical significance. The role of CCA in patient prognosis needs to be investigated by using large data sources.

Methods:

Lung adenocarcinoma patients were queried from The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) database and were divided into CCA and ‘not otherwise specified’ category (NOS). Cancer-specific survival was studied according to gender (male, female), age (0-69,70+), SEER specific stage A system (localized, regional …

Bivalirudin Anticoagulation Dosing Protocol For Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation: A Retrospective Review., Jared W. Netley Pharmd, Mpa , Bcps, James Roy Pharmd, Joseph Greenlee Iii Md, Shaun Hart Np, Michael Todt Pharmd, Bryan Statz Pharmd

Parkview Pharmacy Department

Anticoagulation with unfractionated heparin during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is common, but alternative agents are being evaluated for safety and efficacy. The objective of this analysis was to assess if a comprehensive bivalirudin dosing and monitoring protocol effectively guides dose adjustments and monitoring of bivalirudin in patients during ECMO. Our analysis included 11 patients who received bivalirudin during ECMO therapy and had dosing managed using our hospital derived protocol. Patients treated over a 1-year period were included in this retrospective analysis. Clinical characteristics and changes in activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) were evaluated from medical records to determine the efficacy …

A Patient-Centered Approach Towards Designing A Novel Cied Remote Monitoring Report, Michael J. Mirro, Romisa Rohani Ghahari, R Ahmed, Lauren Reining, Shauna Wagner, Gavin Lehmann, Jaime Heller, Melissa Omlor, Tammy Toscos

Presentations and Events

Objective: We sought to identify the CIED remote monitoring device report content for delivery to patients via a Personal Health Record that encompasses all available device data and is responsive to user information needs and preferences.

Conclusions: 1. Patients do not wish to receive all RM data 2. Interested in receiving device activity and cardiac episode data 3. Not interested in device settings or information 4. Shared preferences are useful for a novel patient-centered RM report 5. Current study extends our previous work confirming the patient desire for RM data

The Peripheral Vascular Intervention (Pvi)-Lower Extremity Structured Report: A Tool For Physician Reporting Data Elements For The National Cardiovascular Data Registry (Ncdr ® ) Pvi Registry ™, Emily Keltner Bs, Ma, Brenda Springer, T. Eric White Md

Parkview Heart Institute

Background

The American College of Cardiology (ACC)/ National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR®) Peripheral Vascular Intervention (PVI) Registry™ relies on thorough data collection to give registry participants a way to measure and improve the quality of care they provide to their patients. The majority of the data being collected in the PVI lower extremity procedures comes directly from the Interventional Cardiologist’s procedural report. There were three different reports from five physicians. The Interventional Cardiologist Group meets monthly to discuss cases and other pertinent information to the group. The members of this group include the Interventional Cardiologists, Parkview Heart Institute’s Chief Operating …

Infection Control

A poster presentation for an environmental contamination project.

Research Question: Are curtains in a C diff-positive patient room a potential source of contamination and risk factor of C diff infection for subsequent patients?
