A Residency Wellness Survey: Understanding Baseline Resident Wellness: Developing Residency Program Specific Wellness Interventions, Andrew H. Cushing, Michele Mccarroll
North Texas Research Forum 2023
Residency is a demanding period of training that requires long hours and prolonged periods of high mental functioning coupled with an emotionally and physically exhausting work load. Nearly half of all physicians experience burnout. Research has suggested that symptoms of burnout are present even in the earliest parts of physician training and the COVID-19 pandemic presented unique factors to the most recent groups of residents. The various burnout screening tools discussed in literature are limited by barriers of cost and lack of specificity for residency. In response to these findings, program specific resident wellness initiatives are now required for accreditation. …

EMET Projects
Integration of the arts into medical education has numerous benefits, including reducing burnout and producing empathetic physicians. Investment in arts-related activities has expanded considerably. However, funding remains a common limitation for further integration of arts into medical education. Clarifying student preferences and barriers to music programs can optimize such limited resources to best suit medical student needs.

The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located in the base of the neck and its job is to make thyroid hormones, which are secreted into the blood and then carried to every tissue in the body. The Use Of Technology For Mental Wellbeing In The Era Of Covid-19, Adam Fakhri
Family Medicine Clerkship Student Projects
Prevalence of mental health issues has increased during the time of COVID-19. There are many contributing factors to consider, the main one reported has been social isolation due to quarantine precautions. Members of the community have spent extended periods of time at home and away from their loved ones during this pandemic. Many patients have reported many life events occurring including deaths in the family without the ability to even mourn with their family members.
