This study addressed the problems of hospitals’ duplicated effort and ad hoc knowledge management (KM) practices. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the focus and type of organizational culture in order to describe and predict the relationship between organizational culture and the affinity for KM of nurses working in health care organizations in Portland, Oregon. Guided by the competing values framework and social capital theory, this research study was undertaken to illuminate the possible relationship between the affinity for and probable use of KM and organizational culture in Oregon hospitals. We propose extensions to the Technology Acceptance Model for the adoption of integrated electronic health records that are shared by multiple health care providers. In particular, we propose a conceptual model in which we incorporate two new factors, trust and access to shared information, into the Technology Acceptance Model. Preliminary results confirm the statistically significant and positive impact of perceived usefulness on behavioral intent to use integrated electronic health records and a significant and positive impact of perceived ease of use on perceived usefulness. The Problem Of Too Many Statistical Tests: Subgroup Analyses In A Study Comparing The Effectiveness Of Online And Live Lectures, David M. Lane

The more statistical analyses performed in the analysis of research data, the more likely it is that one or more of the conclusions will be in error. Multiple statistical analyses can occur when the sample contains several subgroups and the researchers perform separate analyses for each subgroup. For example, separate analyses may be done for different ethnic groups, different levels of education, and/or for both genders. Media reports of research frequently omit information on the number of subgroup analyses performed thus leaving the reader with insufficient information to assess the validity of the conclusions. Scheduling in a job-shop system is a challenging task. Simulation modelling is a well-known approach for evaluating the scheduling plans of a job-shop system; however, it is costly and time-consuming, and developing a model and interpreting the results requires expertise. As an alternative, we have developed a neural network (NN) model focused on detailed scheduling that provides a versatile job-shop scheduling analysis framework for management to easily evaluate different possible scheduling scenarios based on internal or external constraints.
