Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Twelve multiparous Nili Ravi buffaloes were assigned to 1 of 3 treatments in a randomized, replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design to evaluate the effect of chemical (calcium propionate)- and toxin binder (sodium bentonite)-treated cotton seed cake (CSC) on milk yield and transfer of milk toxin (M1). Periods (20 days) were allocated for each treatment. In the 1st treatment (control), CSC with 100 μg/kg of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) was fed to buffaloes. The 2nd and 3rd treatments were 0.5% calcium-propionate-treated CSC and 1.0% sodium-bentonite-treated CSC, respectively. Each group had 4 multiparous buffaloes. The buffaloes given 0.5% calcium propionate CSC …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The present study was designed with an objective to evaluate the impact of various strategies to alleviate heat stress on certain physiological attributes viz. respiratory rate (RT), body surface temperature (BST), pulse rate (PR), and respiratory rate (RR); biochemical attributes viz. glucose, total protein (TP), and cholesterol; and endocrinological parameters (tri-iodothyronine and tetraiodothyronine) of the Nili-Ravi buffaloes during early summer season. Lactating Nili-Ravi buffaloes (n = 20) with close production and parity stage were divided into four treatment groups as group A (control group under roof shades only), B (experimental group under roof shades with antistress supplementation), C (experimental group …

Seasonal Variations In Histomorphology And Histochemistry Of The Prostate Gland Ofbuffalo Bulls, Samikshya Sarangi, Anuradha Gupta, Neelam Bansal, Varinder Uppal Jan 2020

Seasonal Variations In Histomorphology And Histochemistry Of The Prostate Gland Ofbuffalo Bulls, Samikshya Sarangi, Anuradha Gupta, Neelam Bansal, Varinder Uppal

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The prostate glands of buffalo bulls were collected from an abattoir immediately after slaughter and were fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for paraffin block preparation by an acetone-benzene schedule. Paraffin sections of 3-5 μm were obtained on glass slides with a rotary microtome and were stained with various histomorphological and histochemical stains. The distributions of glandular acini and ducts were variable throughout the length of the pelvic urethra. The disseminate part of the prostate gland was derived from the epithelium of the pelvic urethra and was a compound tubulo-alveolar type of gland. The glandular acini comprised three types of …
