Investigation On Serum Calcium (Ca), Phosphorus (P) And Alkaline Phosphatase (Ap) Levels In Cows With Retained Placenta, Yaşar Akar, Hami̇t Yildiz, Hakan Keçeci̇, Muhterem Aydin
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In this study, calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P) and alkaline phosphatase (AP) levels of the blood serum of cows with retained placenta (RP) were measured and the role of these parameters on the etiology of the RP was investigated. A total of 28 different ages and breeds of cows, of which 14 (group 1) had retained placenta and 14 (group 2) discharged fetal membranes (within 3-8 hours of delivery) were used as the material of the study. Additionally, these two groups were divided into two subgroups, according to the sexes of their calves, and three subgroups called groups A (3 years), …

The Effects Of Dry Period And Various Lactation Stages On Some Blood Parameters In Holstein Cows In The Bursa Region, Nurten Gali̇p, Cenk Aydin, Ümi̇t Polat
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
This study was carried out on 80 healthy, four-year-old Holstein dairy cows bred in the Bursa region. Twenty of them were in the dry period and the rest were in the lactation period. Days 48-51, 147-161 and 180+ of the lactation period were considered the first, second and third stages, respectively. Blood samples were analysed for packed cell volume, red blood cell count, haemoglobin values, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and white blood cell count. There was a statistically significant effect of dry period and lactation on blood parameters except MCV and …

The Relationship Between Ascorbic Acid, Oestradiol 17 \Beta And Progesterone In Plasma And Ovaries In Pregnant Holstein Cows, Seyfullah Hali̇loğlu, Behi̇ç Serpek, Nuri̇ Başpinar, Hüseyi̇n Erdem, Zafer Bulut

This study was performed to determine the relationship between the corpus luteum weight/diameter, follicular diameter and the levels of vitamin C, progesterone and oestradiol 17-\beta of the plasma, corpus luteum and follicular fluid of pregnant Holstein cows in a slaughterhouse. Progesterone and oestradiol 17-\beta concentrations were determined by the microtitration plate EIA method. Vitamin C levels were determined by spectrophotometer. Although there was a positive correlation between follicular fluid oestradiol 17-\beta levels and the follicle diameter in the follicular fluid, in contrast to oestradiol 17-\beta levels, small follicles have higher progesterone content than large follicles. This negative correlation was due …
