Introduction:

The World Health Organization [2019] defined burnout as a syndrome caused by chronic job stressors that are not successfully managed, characterized by exhaustion, depersonalization, job detachment, and feelings of inadequacy (WHO, 2019). According to Murthy [2022], the nursing burnout crisis was underway before COVID-19. Nurse burnout recognized pre-COVID-19 was due to systemic organizational problems such as inadequate organizational support and underinvestment in public health (Murthy, 2022).

A 2022 survey of 2500 nurses exhibited increased rates of burnout during the pandemic, with 75% of respondents experiencing burnout, while 65% of those surveyed expressed their desire to leave the healthcare field …

Introduction: Burnout has been a problem in health care for many years and it has particularly affected nurses. Nurse burnout was associated with worsened outcomes for nurses such as increased turnover or quitting and lower job satisfaction. The Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) is the largest employer of registered nurses in the United States. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing predicts there will be a nursing shortage through the year 2030 and replacing and training each nurse is expensive and negatively impacts patient care. A review of the literature showed organizations with high levels of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) had high levels of job satisfaction, which reduces turnover, but there was no research on the existence and impact of OCB in a federal health care facility, specifically the VHA. Background

Pharmacy-led medication reconciliation identifies and corrects medication errors that can potentially cause moderate to severe harm. This research sought to identify the impact of pharmacy-led medication reconciliation on patient outcomes and describe the changes in healthcare workers’ perceptions of the program.

Methods

A pharmacy-led admission medication reconciliation program pilot started in July 2019, and a discharge medication reconciliation proof of concept was tested in September 2020 at a 432-bed hospital. The following periods were compared: August 2018 to February 2019 (pre-program implementation) and August 2019 to February 2020 (post-program implementation). The first survey is for patients that were seen by nurses for footcare, general wellness and more (1A - PowerPoint). An outpatient urgent care unit was experiencing challenges in balancing the need to register patients and delivering care in the timeliest manner as possible. Upon examination, it was found that delays were being experienced in patient triage and discharge that resulted in low patient satisfaction scores.

A team of providers was established to review all process steps and a quality improvement project was created to attain a goal of 100% of the time discharge would not be delayed due to incomplete registration.

In spite of decades of research, concerning nurse's intention to leave their employer (ITL), in 2011, 31.2% of the British nurses surveyed indicated they had formed an ITL. Grounded in reasoned action theory as developed by Ajzen and Fishbein, the purpose of the correlational study was to provide hospital managers with information regarding the relationship among nurse's job satisfaction (JS), organizational culture (OC), and ITL. This research provides and empirically tests a conceptualization of health care services in which customer compliance outside of the service organization is necessary for successful health outcomes. Using data from service providers and customers in a weight-loss clinic, the authors examine the provider's role in gaining customer compliance. They find that provider expertise and attitudinal homophily play a role in bringing about customer role clarity, ability, and motivation. This study demonstrates that compliance leads to goal attainment, which results in satisfaction. Objectives: This study was undertaken to evaluate changes in fibroid specific symptom severity and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) after uterine artery embolization (UAE) and to consider the impact of these changes on satisfaction with the procedure.

Study design: A validated, fibroid specific, symptom, and HRQOL questionnaire was mailed to 80 women who had undergone UAE from 1998 through 2002. Pre- and postprocedure symptom severity and HRQOL scores were obtained. The primary outcome measure was change in fibroid symptoms and HRQOL after UAE. Secondary outcomes included objective measures of patient satisfaction, and the decrease in uterine volume after UAE.
