AbstractMany US hospitals report overcrowding in the emergency department (ED) with increased ambulance diversion. Operating at overcapacity risks staff members' ability to provide timely and effective emergency care to patients, exposing them to poor health outcomes. The purpose of this quantitative study was to evaluate whether a correlation exists between cross-functional team collaboration and timely and effective ED care for patients who left 548 national hospital EDs before being seen between 2020 and 2021.
