When bedside acute care nurses support their clinical practice with current best evidence, patient outcomes improve. Most bedside acute care nurses base their clinical decision-making on tradition and not the application of evidence based practice (EBP). The ability to appraise research is a critical component in the application of EBP and best care practices.
