Intercanine Distance Used As A Measure To Rule Out Biters In Bite Mark Forensics, Alana Joy Scudiere Ohana
Intercanine Distance Used As A Measure To Rule Out Biters In Bite Mark Forensics, Alana Joy Scudiere Ohana
Masters Theses
The science of identification by bite mark analysis has recently been called into serious question. (Reesu and Brown 2016) Human dentition is truly variable, but often not unique. When animal bites are considered, a proper ID of the perpetrator is nearly impossible. Primary distortion (when the bite is made) and secondary distortion (during decomposition or healing) both further disrupt landmarks that might be used for identification. (Sheasby and MacDonald 2001) Using only ink marks and intercanine distance on live subjects, this study attempts to determine maximum distortion possible for a variety of bite mark locations on skin. (Pretty and Sweet …

Abstract
CROWN SIZE COMPARISONS IN PATIENTS WITH PALATALLY DISPLACED CANINES
By Joseph L. Eliason, D.D.S.
A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Virginia Commonwealth University, 2015
Thesis Director: Steven J. Lindauer, D.M.D., M.Dent.Sc.
Professor and Chair, Department of Orthodontics
There has been significant debate over the past decades regarding the etiology of palatally displaced canines. Theorized risk factors include agenesis or malformation of the lateral incisors, incisor retroclination, transverse deficiency, or genetic predisposition. The purpose of this study is to compare the linear and volumetric …
Investigation Of Lateral Incisor Crown Root Angulation And Impacted Maxillary Canines, Samuel Philip Purnell
Investigation Of Lateral Incisor Crown Root Angulation And Impacted Maxillary Canines, Samuel Philip Purnell
All ETDs from UAB
Objective: The primary aim of this study was to determine if there is a difference in the mesiodistal crown-root angulation of maxillary lateral incisors between patients with impacted maxillary canines and a control population. Secondary aim 1 compared the same angle measured on panoramic radiographs to determine if a difference existed between the CBCT measurement and the panoramic radiograph measurement. Secondary aim 2 looked to determine if there was a correlation between maxillary lateral incisor tooth width and the mesiodistal crown-root angulation. Materials and Methods: CBCT's were reformatted so that the mesiodistal crown-root angulation of maxillary lateral incisors could be …
In Vivo Measurement Of Color Relationships Between The Maxillary Central Incisor And Canine As A Function Of Age, Marie E. Falcone
In Vivo Measurement Of Color Relationships Between The Maxillary Central Incisor And Canine As A Function Of Age, Marie E. Falcone
Master's Theses
Abstract
Introduction
It has long been taught that the basic shade (hue) of the patient can be taken from the canine (i.e. that tooth thought to have the highest chroma of a particular hue) and then that hue can be applied to other anterior teeth but at a lower chroma. However, this concept does not appear to derive from published measurements or observations. This study documented the color relationship between in vivo maxillary central incisors and canines to examine: (1) whether they share the same hue, but have different chromas (as commonly taught); and, (2) whether color differences (∆E values) …
