Ipragliflozin, a highly potent and selective sodium glucose cotransporter II inhibitor, is an effective blood glucose lowering drug in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by promoting urinary glucose excretion. The present work represents the first electrochemical determination of ipragliflozin that depends on the oxidation of sulfur atom present in its structure. Cyclic wave and differential pulse voltammetry were applied by scanning potential over range of 0 to 2.8 V vs the reference electrode Ag/Ag+ in non-aqueous medium.
