Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic significance of rSS after PCI for NSTEMI in terms of all-cause mortality and MACE (Major adverse cardiac event) at 3 years of follow-up.
Methodology: A retrospective analysis of 115 consecutive NSTEMI patients who underwent PCI at the Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi between January 2016 and December 2016 was performed. 7 patients were excluded from the final analysis due to missing data (n=108). Background Social and environmental factors play an important role in the rising health care burden of cardiovascular disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention developed the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) from US census data as a tool for public health officials to identify communities in need of support in the setting of a hazardous event. Introduction: Prior studies have shown a direct association between U.S. birth and duration of residence with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) though, few have specifically focused on Asian Americans.
Methods: We utilized cross-sectional data from the 2006 to 2015 National Health Interview Survey. We compared prevalent cardiovascular risk factors and ASCVD among Asian American individuals by U.S. birth and duration of time spent in the U.S.
Results: The study sample consisted of 18,150 Asian individuals of whom 20.5 % were Asian Indian, 20.5 % were Chinese, 23.4 % were Filipino, and 35.6 % were of other Asian ethnic groups. The mean …

A 45 year old male with hypertension was presented to our centre with a recent inferior wall myocardial infarction (IWMI) and post infarction angina. Invasive coronary angiography revealed an occluded proximal right coronary artery (RCA) with high thrombus burden, in the absence of obstructive disease in the remaining coronary vasculature. Based on raised platelet counts of 923,000/microliter and positive Janus kinase (JAK 2- V617) mutations tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), a diagnosis of essential thrombocythemia (ET) was made. Severe Mixed Mitral Valve Disease Due To Massive Mitral Annular Calcification: A Case Report And Literature Review, Fateh Ali Tipoo Sultan, Sheema Saadia

We present an unusual case of massive mitral annular calcification (MAC) leading to severe mixed mitral valve disease, viz severe mitral regurgitation and severe mitral stenosis. To our knowledge, severe mixed mitral valve disease secondary to MAC is extremely rare. The patient (a 65-year-old lady) presented with worsening shortness of breath and signs of congestive heart failure. Echocardiographic examination revealed massive mitral annular calcification. Despite the massive annular calcification, she had experienced neither embolism nor endocarditis in the past. Because of severe symptomatic mitral regurgitation and mitral stenosis, surgery was advised; however, the patient declined it.
