Entrapment Of A Partially Degloved Stent In The Radial Artery: Is There Any Way Out?, Nooraldaem Yousif, Husam A. Noor

Stent loss during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is uncommon but may lead to serious adverse events. Here we describe a challenging case of stent loss in the radial artery during primary PCI. There, a long stent failed to cross the culprit lesion, and an attempt to pull back the undeployed stent into the guiding catheter resulted in eversion of the stent, partially stripping it off the stent balloon and rendering the stent irretrievable. Retrieval of the stent at all costs might have led to major complications; hence stent deployment in the radial artery bailed us out of this precarious situation.

Intramyocardial dissecting hematoma (IDH) is a rare complication of myocardial infarction (MI). It can affect the left ventricular free wall, the right ventricle, or the interventricular septum.
We report a case of a 58-year-old man with an IDH following an acute anterior wall myocardial infarction detected by echocardiography and confirmed by Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR).

In this study, we aim to compare the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) CathPCI score to the Mehran score in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) vs non-ACS patients.

Methods: We included patients who received PCI at our facility between July 2015 and December 2017. A growing body of evidence shows that altering the inflammatory response by alternative macrophage polarization is protective against complications related to acute myocardial infarction (MI). We have previously shown that oral azithromycin (AZM), initiated prior to MI, reduces inflammation and its negative sequelae on the myocardium. Here, we investigated the immunomodulatory role of a liposomal AZM formulation (L-AZM) in a clinically relevant model to enhance its therapeutic potency and avoid off-target effects. L-AZM (40 or 10 mg/kg, IV) was administered immediately post-MI and compared to free AZM (F-AZM). L-AZM reduced cardiac toxicity and associated mortality by 50% in mice. We …

Wellens' syndrome, also regarded as left anterior descending coronary T-wave syndrome, is an electrocardiography (EKG) pattern that indicates critical proximal left anterior descending artery (LAD) stenosis. It is characterized by deeply inverted T-waves or biphasic T-waves in the anterior precordial chest leads in a patient with unstable angina. Patients typically present with symptoms consistent with acute coronary syndrome.
