Aims
- Identify the percentage of female patients with prior CT scans done for noncardiac reasons who should have the diagnosis of CAD.
- Collaborate with primary care, cardiology and breast imaging to determine how best to integrate this incidental finding into clinical practice.
- Determine current barriers that may prevent providers from taking action on patients with new CAD.

Problem Definition: Multiple studies (e.g. EMPA-REG, CANVAS) demonstrate that SGLT2 Inhibitors (Inh) improve cardiac outcomes in patients with Type II Diabetes (DM2) with comorbid Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) including Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Disease. SGLT2 Inhibitors are considered standard of care for patients with DM2 and CVD. Based on literature published in European Journal of Preventative Cardiology and JACC HF, our prediction is that physicians at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Ambulatory Practices (TJUH) under-utilize SGLT2 Inh for patients with co-morbid CVD and DM2.
Aims for Improvement: Within the Jefferson Healthcare System, we sought to determine: Future Interventions

Left bundle branch block (LBBB) is a pathologic finding on electrocardiogram (ECG).
- Most commonly present in patients with antecedent hypertension, cardiac enlargement, coronary artery disease or a combination of these
- Class 1B recommendation: Those with findings of LBBB on ECG should undergo transthoracic echocardiography for evaluation of underlying heart disease
- LBBB is prevalent (33%) in patients with heart failure
- Cardiac resynchronization therapy can improve left ventricular mechanical function in patients with LBBB (QRS >150 msec)
This study aims to understand how effectively we are evaluating and following up these patients at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

The limitations of 2D imaging creates challenges for cardiology fellows learning the basics of coronary angiography.
Using a 3D model to simulate a coronary angiogram outside the cath lab could shorten the learning cure and improve understanding of this essential procedure.

Objectives
- Aim of our project was early identification of 100% of patients with a CIED IMPLANT presenting with bacteremia
- Process involves use of EPIC EMR to automatically identify patients with positive blood cultures
- Traditionally, cardiologists are alerted by the care team using the CONSULT system for management of these patients
- EPIC EMR as an adjunct to the CONSULT system

Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart disease that is associated with structural abnormalities during fetal development 1. The incidence of Tetralogy of Fallot in the United States is approximately 3-5 cases per 10,000 live births and is considered one of the most common cyanotic congenital heart diseases 2. The exact etiology of Tetralogy of Fallot is unknown, however it is thought to be associated with untreated maternal diabetes, maternal use of retinoids, as well as chromosomal abnormalities 2. The main components of this disease state include a right ventricular outflow obstruction, interventricular communication in the form of a ventricular …

Objective: Myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, is an autoimmune heart disease that can be caused by viruses, bacteria and toxins. Myocarditis can lead to dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and heart failure. Currently there are no disease-specific therapies for treating myocarditis or preventing progression to DCM. Adipose Extracellular Vesicles (AEVs) are lipid bilayer nanoparticles that are released into the outside environment of adipocytes and provide promising regenerative potential for inflammatory diseases like myocarditis.
Methods: Lipoaspirate was obtained from women and men and AEVs isolated from the lipoaspirate using tangential flow filtration. We injected wild type male BALB/c mice with 250uL AEVs …

Abstract
Introduction: Systolic heart failure is a chronic condition in which there is a decrease in the heart’s ability to pump blood to the body. While there are several treatments for the symptoms of heart failure, the only curative treatment for most causes of chronic heart failure is a heart transplant. Due to the limited number of heart donors, 72.2% of patients in need of a heart transplant in 2017 spent up to 2 years waiting for a transplant. Mechanical circulatory support has been used to increase patient survival to transplantation. In the past, these machines were external devices that …

INTRODUCTION: An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a permanent ballooning of the abdominal aorta greater than 3cm in diameter. A small AAA is often asymptomatic. However, as time passes the risk of rupture increases as the diameter of the aneurysm widens. This can ultimately lead to massive internal bleeding and fatality. Surgery is the most common course of treatment for AAA. Most patients will undergo traditional open surgery, but this is often associated with prolonged in-hospital recovery and is contraindicated in an aging population that have a higher prevalence of comorbidities. With this in thought, some clinicians have been turning …
