Doctor Wells, of Washington, D.C., became the eighty-first president of the Association at the 1943 meeting in Cincinnati. It was a business meeting only; the scientific session having been suspended for the duration of the war. After serving in the Navy Dental Corps from 1918 to 1925, Doctor Wells entered private practice in Brooklyn, New York. He served as vice president of the Dental Society of the State of New York and president of the International College of Dentists.
