The Cloak Of Invisibility: Subclinical Infective Endocarditis Resulting In Chordae Tendineae Rupture In Mitral Valve Prolapse, Jason Naftulin, Trinava Roy, Anjeli Patel, Steven Silver
Rowan-Virtua Research Day
While Chordae tendineae rupture(CTR) is often caused due to mitral valve prolapse, rheumatic heart disease or infective endocarditis, CTR secondary to a combination of the factors is not often seen. We present a unique case of CTR due to subclinical infective endocarditis(IE) with underlying mitral valve prolapse(MVP).

Appendiceal diverticula present as rare clinical findings and are most often confused with acute appendicitis due to similar presentation. The incidence in such cases is reported at a rate no greater than 1%.
We present a rare case of a 65-year-old female treated for acute appendicitis who was instead found to have acute sequelae of appendiceal diverticulosis.

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is a well-studied procedure resulting in long term weight loss. Due to countless years of study, the morbidity and mortality associated with a Roux en Y gastric bypass has been greatly decreased. However, there are still several rare, yet serious, complications that may arise in the post-operative period. Anastomotic leaks and ulcers are just two of those complications. We describe a case of a 41 year old female developing postoperative perforated duodenal ulcer. A laparoscopic repair was performed using a Graham patch technique. This review aims to identify factors contributing to the ulcer development as well as …

Lung Hernia: An Uncommon Cause Of Pleuritic Chest Pain, Brittany Fera
Rowan-Virtua Research Day
Lung hernia is a rare but important consideration in the differential diagnosis of chest pain in patients with recent thoracic trauma or a history of thoracic surgery. Patients who undergo an anterior approach to thoracotomy, as was the case with our patient, are at a higher risk for developing lung herniation as a result of inherent anatomical weakness and wider intercostal spaces anteriorly and inferiorly.

Liposarcoma (LS), a malignant tumor of adipose origin, is the most common soft tissue sarcoma (STS), and can develop within any soft tissue. It rarely occurs in the paratesticular region, and accounts for 3-7% of spermatic cord tumors. Dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLS) and well-differentiated liposarcoma (WDLS) account for two of the five subtypes of LS, with dedifferentiation occurring in 20% of cases. There have been 66 cases of DDLS of the spermatic cord reported to date, but none present with a 22/22q trisomy without the fusion or rearrangement that commonly produces these aggressive tumors.
Accurate diagnosis of LS of the spermatic …
