Objetivo conocer la genética del glaucoma primario de ángulo abierto para la identificación de genes que permitan establecer una herramienta de diagnóstico temprano para un mejor manejo de la enfermedad. Materiales y métodos se realizó una búsqueda sistematizada de literatura primaria en bases de datos como PubMed, SciELO y Elsevier además, se utilizaron referentes de varios textos para algunas terminologías, cuadros y tablas de los diferentes glaucomas, para determinar las características, el diagnóstico diferencial y la identificación de los genes asociados con el desarrollo del glaucoma primario de ángulo abierto. USP18 (ubiquitin-specific protease 18) removes ubiquitin-like modifier interferon stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) from conjugated proteins. USP18 null mice in a FVB/N background develop tumors as early as 2 months of age. These tumors are leiomyosarcomas and thus represent a new murine model for this disease.

Molecularly targeted drugs promise a safer and more effective treatment modality than conventional chemotherapy for cancer patients. However, tumors are dynamic systems that readily adapt to these agents activating alternative survival pathways as they evolve resistant phenotypes. Combination therapies can overcome resistance but finding the optimal combinations efficiently presents a formidable challenge. Here we introduce a new paradigm for the design of combination therapy treatment strategies that exploits the tumor adaptive process to identify context-dependent essential genes as druggable targets. This paper considers two types of protein data. First, data about protein function described in a number of ways, such as, GO terms and PFAM families. Second, data about whether individual proteins are experimentally associated with cancer by an anomalous elevation or lowering of their expressions within cancerous cells. We combine these two types of protein data and test whether the first type of data, that is, the functional descriptors, can predict the second type of data, that is, cancer-relatedness.
