Characterization Of Algerian Apricots (Prunus Armeniaca) Using Morphological And Pomological Markers, Kaouther Boutiti, Ines Bellil, Douadi Khelifi

Karbala International Journal of Modern Science

The aim of this study was to evaluate the diversity of an Algerian apricot germplasm. This Algerian apricot was characterized by a green-yellow skin, a red ground color, and a light orange flesh color in general. Besides, highly positive and negative significant correlations were revealed between the studied characters. Whereby, the principal component analysis explained 81% of the variability. Fruit, stone and leaves dimensions were the main features that explained evidentially the majority of variability. Moreover, the cluster analysis divided the accessions into two major groups. Thus, Algerian accessions selected in this study may have the potential to be used …

A Review On Overcoming Dual Challenges For Maize Cropping Under High Plant Density: Stalk Lodging And Kernel Abortion, Alam Sher, Javed Iqbal, Wajid Nazeer, Muhammad Mudassar Maqbool, Muhammad Nadeem, Sajid Faiz, Shahbaz Khan Mar 2022

A Review On Overcoming Dual Challenges For Maize Cropping Under High Plant Density: Stalk Lodging And Kernel Abortion, Alam Sher, Javed Iqbal, Wajid Nazeer, Muhammad Mudassar Maqbool, Muhammad Nadeem, Sajid Faiz, Shahbaz Khan

Journal of Bioresource Management

Increased optimal plant density is necessary in ensuring future food security by increasing crop productivity. However, maintaining relatively high plant density has to overcome two challenges i.e. kernel abortion and stalk lodging. The response of maize to increased plant density and the effects of increased plant density on maize productivity were discussed in this research. Increased plant density induces increased plant height, causes low photosynthetic capacity, limits the carbohydrate supply and increases kernel abortion. Also, increased plant density incurs a high risk of stalk lodging due to increased ear height and diminished stem diameter associated with reduced vascular bundles that …

Collection Of Local Kyrgyzstan Melon Genotypes And Determination Of Morphologicalrelationships Between Some Anatolian Melons, Hasan Can, Önder Türkmen

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Collection, characterization, and protection of genetic resources are among the high-priority issues of increasing importance throughout the world, especially for the breeding and release of novel cultivars. To understand and describe the characteristics of germplasm, the morphological status of genetic resources must accurately represent their agricultural applications. In this study, the genotypes of melon in Kyrgyzstan were collected by visiting several regions and contacting farmers. The genetic diversity of 35 Kyrgyz and 13 Turkish melon accessions was characterized based on the corresponding phenotypes. The morphological characterizations were largely based on the IPGR and, to some extent, UPOV standards. The genotypes …

Dental Morphometric Investigation On The Chinchilla (Chinchilla Lanigera) Using A Threedimensionalreconstruction Model, Sema Özkadi̇f, Emrullah Eken, Ayşe Haligür

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of this study was to reveal the morphometric characteristics of the teeth of the chinchilla (Chinchilla lanigera), which are both kept as pet animals and raised for the economic value of their fur, using three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions created from two-dimensional (2D) multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images and to investigate whether there was a difference between the sexes. A total of 12 chinchillas of both sexes (six males and six females) were used. The teeth reconstructions of the animals were performed with Mimics. 14.1 3D modeling software on the 2D images was taken in the prone position. According to …

Dose And Time-Dependent Effects Of Glucocorticoid: A Morphologic And Morphometric Study In The Broiler Lung, Rafiqul Islam, Nasrin Sultana, Rafiqul Alam, Antora Akter, Md. Anisuzzaman, Ziaul Haque, Md. Abu Hadi Noor Ali Khan

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Glucocorticoids (GCs) play a critical function in neonatal lung growth and maturation though the long-term dose-dependent effects of GCs on lungs are still ambiguous. The purpose of the present study is to explore the morphologic and morphometric changes in broiler lungs in reaction to dietary GC. Day-old chicks (DOCs) were purchased and divided into four groups at random i.e. one control group (C) and three experimental groups (E1, E2, and E3). Commercial broiler feed was provided to both the control and experimental groups where the feed of the experimental groups contained GC, dexamethasone (DEX) at the rate of 3, 5, …

Arundinella Stenostachya (Arundinella, Poaceae), A Reevaluated New Species From Se Asia, Liqiong Jiang, Zhenwen Liu, Ende Liu, Atchara Teerawatananon, Yuehua Wang, Hua Peng Jan 2022

Arundinella Stenostachya (Arundinella, Poaceae), A Reevaluated New Species From Se Asia, Liqiong Jiang, Zhenwen Liu, Ende Liu, Atchara Teerawatananon, Yuehua Wang, Hua Peng

Turkish Journal of Botany

Arundinella stenostachya, a new species, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to A. decempedalis and A. bengalensis, but differs from the former species by the length of panicle branches, type of trichome on nodes and pedicels length, and from the latter in height and diameter of culms, the length and width of leaf blades, pedicels length, and the length of panicles and branches. The new species has been mistakenly identified as A. decempedalis and A. bengalensis. Molecular analyses based on ITS sequences also support A. stenostachya as a distinct species.
