2015, Salinas And Carmel River Basins Study

State and Federal Documents Relating to Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties

An April 2015 collaborative study conducted by the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Monterey Peninsula Water Management District and Monterey County Water Resources Agency to evaluate future water supply and demand imbalances in changing climate and to develop potential adaptation strategies to meet future demands in the Salinas and Carmel River Basins. Objectives of the study include: 1) Improved regional collaboration in the development of an integrated modeling tool; 2) Identify risks and potential impacts of climate change on future water resources (supply & demand); and 3) Develop solutions and adaptation strategies to fill the gaps in supply/demand.

Projected future changes in the state’s climate will present new challenges for our producers. The Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia (DAFWA) continues to work with agricultural industries to lay solid foundations for an agricultural sector that has a range of response options.

This situation statement provides an assessment of how climate-ready the state’s agricultural sectors are and provides guidance for investment priorities for DAFWA for the period 2015–2020.

Some data use agreements prohibit the publication of coordinate data and those points have been removed.
