Effect Of Light-Emitting Diode (Led)-Based Colors On Production Performance Andwelfare Of Commercial Layers, Fazal Raziq, Jibran Hussain, Athar Mahmud, Khalid Javed

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Artificial light, in terms of its intensity and color, is of significant importance for the performance of laying hens. In this study, the efforts were made to evaluate the effect of different light-emitting diode (LED)-based light colors on production performance, welfare, and egg quality attributes of Lohmann LSL lite hens in an open-sided house. For this, 200 commercial laying hens were distributed into 4 treatment groups, having 5 replicates of 10 birds each. The treatments included different LED colors, i.e. white, monochromatic green, monochromatic red, and dichromatic red?green. Green light significantly increased body weight as compared to other LED light …

Production And Egg Quality Traits Of Organic Hens In A Laying Period Under Commercialconditions In Turkey, Onur Saribaş, Umut Sami̇ Yamak Jan 2020

Production And Egg Quality Traits Of Organic Hens In A Laying Period Under Commercialconditions In Turkey, Onur Saribaş, Umut Sami̇ Yamak

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The productive performance and egg quality traits of hens in an organic production system in Turkey were executed in this paper. A total of 6000 hens were reared in an organic system for 72 weeks. Two organic certified houses each with a capacity of 3000 hens were used in the study. Mean egg production during the laying period was 303 eggs per hen. Laying rate was 80.24% for 72 weeks, while mortality was 8.85%. The internal and external egg quality traits were determined between 25 and 72 weeks. Mean egg weight was 63.03 g and shell thickness was 0.35 mm. …

Effects Of Dietary Guar Meal With Or Without Beta-Mannanase On Performance And Eggquality Traits In Laying Hens, Süleyman Çalişlar Jan 2020

Effects Of Dietary Guar Meal With Or Without Beta-Mannanase On Performance And Eggquality Traits In Laying Hens, Süleyman Çalişlar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, the effects of beta-mannanase supplementation to laying hens? diets with different guar meal (GM) ratios on performance and egg quality traits were investigated. The experimental period lasted 126 days. Ninety-six Lohman Brown hens at the age of 56 weeks were kept in individual cages. They were divided into 8 treatment groups as follows: 0% guar meal (GM0) (control); 0% GM + 0.05% beta-mannanase (GM0E); 8% GM (GM8); 8% GM + 0.05% beta-mannanase (GM8E); 16% GM (GM16); 16% GM + 0.05% beta-mannanase (GM16E); 24% GM (GM24); and 24% GM + 0.05% beta-mannanase (GM24E). A photoperiod of 16.5 h …
