Abstract
This account is based mainly on two historical records of pioneering attempts that reached Frémont Island, i.e., Report of the Exploring Expeditions to the Rocky Mountains in the year 1842, and to Oregon and Northern California in the years 1843-‘44, by Brevet Captain J.
