Histological Investigation Of The Effects, On The Kidneys Of Chickens, Of Feeding With A Diet Containing Hot Red Pepper, Nesri̇n Özfi̇li̇z, Hati̇ce Erdost, Artay Yağci

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out on isobrown chicks fed from one day old on a diet containing 1% hot red pepper. Lenfoid infiltration and hyperemic areas in the parenchym, and hypertrophy in most of the glomeruli were observed. A thickening and adhesion of parietal and visceral sheets was observed in the glomeruli of some of the experimental groups. The average glomerulus diameter of the experimental groups was much more than that of the control groups, and these differences were thought to be statistically significant.

The Effects Of Cimetidine And Ranitidine On Kidney Cortex Of Mus Musculus Albinus, Kadri̇ye Akgün Dar Jan 2002

The Effects Of Cimetidine And Ranitidine On Kidney Cortex Of Mus Musculus Albinus, Kadri̇ye Akgün Dar

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, 4.3 µg/g cimetidine and 17 µg/g ranitidine were orally given to mice for two months. The effects of cimetidine and ranitidine on kidney cortical tissue were examined at light microscopical level. In both groups, it was detected that the tubules were separated by their lumen containing darkly stained remnant material. Vacuolization, destruction of apical membrane and decreased PAS positive reaction were observed in the apical membrane of proximal tubule epithelial cells. The nuclei of proximal and distal tubule cells were cylindrical. More excessively in the ranitidine treated group, widening of the tubule lumens and limited proximal tubule …

The Evaluation Of Renal Allo And Autotransplantation Results In Cats, Fatma Eser Özgenci̇l, Ömer Beşalti, Ahmet Özak, Nalan Karademi̇r, Jale Erdeğer, Betül Tanyel Jan 2002

The Evaluation Of Renal Allo And Autotransplantation Results In Cats, Fatma Eser Özgenci̇l, Ömer Beşalti, Ahmet Özak, Nalan Karademi̇r, Jale Erdeğer, Betül Tanyel

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

For the first time in Turkey, renal autotransplantation in 7 cats and renal allotransplantation in 7 cats having blood-crossmatch-compatible donors were performed. Immunosuppression was maintained by a prednisolone-cyclosporin combination in the renal allotransplantation group. All cats in the renal allotransplantation group died during the operation or between 3 and 72 h postoperatively. Two cats in the renal autotransplantation group survived approximately 2 years. Hyperacute or acute rejection findings were not encountered according to perioperative observations, laboratory findings or histopathological evaluations of renal allografts. The results of histopathological evaluations of renal allografts indicated acute tubular necrosis (ATN) findings caused by renal …

The Structural And Biochemical Changes Of Kidney Tissue On Fluorosis In Rabbits, Mehmet Akdoğan, Ali̇ Bi̇lgi̇li̇, Erdal Karaöz, Alparslan Gökçi̇men, Gökhan Eraslan, Ebru Üstüner Jan 2002

The Structural And Biochemical Changes Of Kidney Tissue On Fluorosis In Rabbits, Mehmet Akdoğan, Ali̇ Bi̇lgi̇li̇, Erdal Karaöz, Alparslan Gökçi̇men, Gökhan Eraslan, Ebru Üstüner

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, the effects of sodium fluoride given subchronically at the doses of 1, 10 and 40 mg/L for 70 days were investigated. For this purpose, 21 male New Zealand rabbits were used. At the end of the 70th day, the level of blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatine (CRE) and \gamma-GT activity in the plasma and the activities of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), glutathione reductase (GSH-Rd), catalase (CAT) and glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) and the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) were detected from blood samples taken from the control group (1 mg/L) and the trial …

The Levels Of Pyruvate Kinase Activity In Renal And Hepatic Tissues Of Rats With Diabetes Induced By Streptozotocin, Seval Yilmaz, Bi̇lal Üstündağ Jan 2002

The Levels Of Pyruvate Kinase Activity In Renal And Hepatic Tissues Of Rats With Diabetes Induced By Streptozotocin, Seval Yilmaz, Bi̇lal Üstündağ

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, the changes in pyruvate kinase enzyme activities in the liver and kidney tissues of rats with diabetes induced by streptozotocin were examined and the relations with the disease were investigated. Diabetes mellitus was induced in Wistar-Albino rats by the administration of a single intraperitoneal dose of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg body weight). After streptozotocin was injected, the pyruvate kinase activities in the livers and kidneys of the rats were analysed according to Beutler's method on days 3 and 12. It was determined that liver pyruvate kinase enzyme levels in rats with diabetes induced with streptozotocin were decreased on …
