Turkish Journal of Zoology

This study was carried out to determine the species of the subfamily Agathidinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) in the Marmara region of Turkey. Samples were collected from 47 localities between 1985 and 1997. A total of 16 species were determined. The results revealed that Agathis fulmeki Fischer and Bassus linguarius (Nees von Esenbeck) are new records for the Turkish fauna. Agathis malvacearum Latreille, A. lugubris (Foerster, 1862) and Baeognatha armeniaca Telenga are new records for the Marmara region. The Structure Of Baculum In Myotis Myotis And Myotis Blythi (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) From Turkey, İrfan Albayrak, Nursel Aşan

Turkish Journal of Zoology

A comparison was made of the shape and size of the bacula of 32 Myotis myotis (Borkhausen, 1797) and 26 Myotis blythi (Tomes, 1857) collected from Turkey. It was determined that baculum size does not distinguish the two species but baculum shape distinguishes them.

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Certain entodiniid ciliates, somewhat different from those previously described (1), were observed the during examination of the rumen contents of 30 adult domestic cattle (Bos taurus L.) in the vicinity of Izmir. We propose that these new forms should be taxonomically named Entodinium oektemae n. sp. and Entodinium imaii n. sp. The frequencies Entodinium oektemae n. sp. and Entodinium imaii n. sp. were 6.67% 16.67% respectively. The main characteristics of these two species are described in detail and discussed in comparison with those of the previously reported ones.

Turridae Swainson, 1840 Species (Gastropoda-Mollusca) Of İzmir Bay (Aegean Sea), Bi̇lal Öztürk

Turkish Journal of Zoology

This study aims to determine the species belonging to the family Turridae in İzmir Bay, based on specimens collected from 11 stations between 1995 and 1998. As a result of examinations, 15 species are determined in the region. Among these, Mangelia paciniana (Calcara, 1839), Raphitoma echinata (Brocchi, 1814) and Philbertia horrida Monterosato, 1884 are Mediterranean endemic species, and are new records for the Turkish coasts. Other species listed in this study are distributed both in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Amphipod Fauna Of The Turkish Central Black Sea Region, Murat Sezgi̇n, Ahmet Kocataş, Tuncer Katağan

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Following research into amphipod fauna in the central Black Sea region of Turkey, forty-two species of benthic amphipod were recorded. Of these, Ampelisca pseudospinimana, Gammarellus angulosus, Hyale crassipes, Leptocheirus pilosus, Orchestia mediterranea and Orchestia stephenseni are reported from the Turkish Black Sea for the first time, and Microdeutopus versiculatus and Nannonyx propinquus are new records for Turkish waters. With this study, the number of amphipod species known from the Turkish Black Sea coast has increased from fifty-seven to sixty-five.

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The Habitat, external and cranial morphologies, and karyotype of Turkish specimens of Tatera indica are described for the first time with this study. It was determined that Tatera indica was located in uncultivated arid and semi-arid habitat in southeastern Turkey. Its external and cranial characteristics are consistent with those detailed in published papers. The karyotype of Tatera indica is composed of 2n = 68, NF = 84 and NFa = 80.

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this faunistic study carried out in the Anatolian part of Çanakkale province, 40 Tabanidae species distributed in the area were determined. Previous studies carried out in this province reported 31 species. Overall, 52 species belonging to Pangoninae, Chrysopsinae and Tabaninae subfamilies have been determined to date. Twenty-one of these species are first records for the province and Silvius latifrons graecus Chv., Mch., & Lyn., is a first record for Turkey as well.

Karyotype Of Eptesicus Serotinus (Schreber, 1774) In Turkey (Mammalia: Chiroptera), Nursel Aşan Jan 2001

Karyotype Of Eptesicus Serotinus (Schreber, 1774) In Turkey (Mammalia: Chiroptera), Nursel Aşan

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In order to investigate the conventional karyotype of Eptesicus serotinus (Schreber, 1774) in Turkey, four specimens were karyotyped. It was determined that the diploid number was 2n=50, the number of autosomal arms was FN=50, the X chromosome was large submetacentric, and the Y chromosome was dot-like acrocentric and the smallest chromosome of the set. All of the autosomes were acrocentric. A secondary constriction on a medium-sized acrocentric pair was encountered in most of the metaphase spreads examined.
