Amphipod Fauna Of The Turkish Central Black Sea Region, Murat Sezgi̇n, Ahmet Kocataş, Tuncer Katağan

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Following research into amphipod fauna in the central Black Sea region of Turkey, forty-two species of benthic amphipod were recorded. Of these, Ampelisca pseudospinimana, Gammarellus angulosus, Hyale crassipes, Leptocheirus pilosus, Orchestia mediterranea and Orchestia stephenseni are reported from the Turkish Black Sea for the first time, and Microdeutopus versiculatus and Nannonyx propinquus are new records for Turkish waters. With this study, the number of amphipod species known from the Turkish Black Sea coast has increased from fifty-seven to sixty-five.

Recent Ostracoda (Crustacea) Fauna Of The Black Sea Coasts Of Turkey, Mustafa Kiliç

Turkish Journal of Zoology

This study was performed to determine the Ostracoda fauna of the Black Sea coasts of Turkey. The material collected from 34 stations in June, July, and August of 1995 was evaluated and classified. The results of this classification are as follows: 24 species (Ilyocypris inermis, Candona sp., Cyprinotus inaequivalvis, Heterocypris salina, Heterocypris incongruens, Cypridopsis vidua, Potamocypris villosa, Potamocypris steueri, Limnocythere inopinata, Leptocythere multipunctata, Callistocythere mediterranea, Callistocythere diffusa, Costa edwardsii, Aurila convexa, Cyprideis torosa, Pontocythere baceseoi, Eucytherura bulgarica, Microcytherura nigrescens, Loxoconcha pontica, Loxoconcha rhomboidea, Xestoleberis cornelii, Sclerochilus gewmülleri, Paradoxostoma intermedium and Paradoxostoma guttatum) and 3 subspecies (Cythereis rubra pontica, Xestoleberis aurantia …

Comparable Age Determination In Different Bony Structures Of Pleuronectes Flesus Luscus Pallas, 1811 Inhabiting The Black Sea, Nazmi̇ Polat, Derya Bostanci, Savaş Yilmaz

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The aim of this study is to determine the most reliable bony structure for ageing of Pleuronectes flesus luscus inhabiting the Black Sea. The age determination method and its accuracy are the most important subjects for the evaluation of age-weight-length relationships in fisheries biology, since the estimates of survival, growth and mortality rates, and the analysis of year classes and recruitment all depend on age structure. In this study, scales, vertebrae and otoliths removed from each fish were examined by two readers three times each without reference to any data except the date of capture. The precision of readers and …
