A Taxonomic Revision Of The New World Genus Oropodes Casey (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Pselaphinae), Michael S. Caterino, Donald S. Chandler

The genus Oropodes is characterized and revised with 18 species being treated. Members of this genus are found in temperate forests to desert brush lands from Oregon to Baja California, but are associated primarily with dry forests and shrub lands of California. Keys to males and Females, where known, are provided. Seven species are redescribed: O. arcaps (California), O. dybasi (Oregon), O. ishii (California), O. nuclere (California), O. orbiceps (California), O. rumseyensis (California), O. yollabolly (California). The name Oropodes raffrayi (California) is raised from synonymy and the species is redescribed, stat. n. Ten new species are described: O. aalbui (California), …

Five new species of anilline ground beetles (Carabidae: Trechinae: Bembidiini) are described from the Appalachian Mountains and Piedmont Plateau of eastern United States. Two species, Anillinus unicoi n. sp. (from the Unicoi Mountains, North Carolina) and A. carltoni n. sp. (from the Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina/ Tennessee), inhabit the crests of adjacent mountain ranges, and share similarities with A. moseleyae Sokolov and Carlton. These three comprise a high-altitude group of species in the region. The third species A. chilhowee n. sp. Is one of the smallest representatives of the loweae-group of species. Flies are one of four superradiations of insects (along with beetles, wasps, and moths) that account for the majority of animal life on Earth. Diptera includes species known for their ubiquity (Musca domestica house fly), their role as pests (Anopheles gambiae malaria mosquito), and their value as model organisms across the biological sciences (Drosophila melanogaster). Additions And Deletions To The Known Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) Of Bolivia, James E. Wappes, Steven W. Lingafelter, Robert Perger

An additional 137 species and two tribes are added to the cerambycid fauna of Bolivia while 12 species are deleted. This brings the total number of species known from Bolivia to 1,561. Comments and statistics regarding the growth of knowledge on the Bolivian Cerambycid fauna and species endemicity are included.
