To determine the free-radical scavenging activity and total phenolic content of the ethanol extract of Poinsettia leaves (Euphorbia pulcherrima Willd.) from Lombok Island, we used the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl method and expressed the total phenolic content as gallic acid equivalent (GAE) per gram of ethanol extract. The results show the strong antioxidant activity (79.77 ppm) of the ethanol extract of red Poinsettia leaves and the moderate antioxidant activity of green Poinsettia leaves (118.350 ppm). The ethanol extracts of red and green Poinsettia leaves possessed an average of 63.276 ± 0.228 and 22.715 ± 0.090 mg GAE/g extract total phenolic contents, respectively. …

Owing to their eccentric thermostable ability, thermophiles are among the most utilized extremophiles in various industries, such as manufacturing, and clinical research. Researchers believe that many unknown thermophiles are yet to be discovered. This study aimed to genotypically characterize the diversity of thermophiles and screen them for the potential production of enzymes in the recreational hot springs located at Northwest Coast of Borneo. The waste generated in metal coating and leather tanning industries contribute to water pollution owing to the use of Cr metal in production processes. The utilization of lignin from natural base materials in the form of bagasse can reduce unwanted waste from production processes and adsorb Cr ion waste. In this study, lignin was successfully isolated from bagasse waste and then carbonized and applied in Cr metal absorption. Avian Influenza (AI) is one of the strategic animal diseases still considered a priority for control by the Indonesian government. This study aimed to examine the immune response of chickens to various types of H5N1 subtype AI vaccines in Indonesia and to determine the correlation of factors influencing the post-vaccination AI antibody response. Serum samples were tested using the hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test with the standard AI antigen subtype H5N1 strain A/Chicken/Barru/BBVM/41-13/2013 (Clade 2.1.3) and strain A/Chicken/Semarang/04141225-07/2014 (Clade 2.3.2). The present study aimed to evaluate the potency of Citrus aurantiifolia Swingle and sea salt solution as a promising cleansing agent for edible bird’s nests (EBNs). Ascorbic acid, sodium, and chloride analyses of the C. aurantiifolia Swingle and sea salt solution were conducted using HPLC, ICP-OES, and titrimetry, respectively. The characteristics of physical samples and hydrogen peroxide detection were examined in this study. In this work, hydrazone, thiosemicarbazide, diamide, and dipeptide derivatives were prepared from the glycine and β-alanine hydrazide of 4-hydroxy-2-oxoquinoline. The desired derivative resulted from substitution, hydrazinolysis, condensation, and azide coupling reactions. The fabricated derivatives were screened for anticancer characteristics toward human’s colon carcinoma (HCT-116) cell line using the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide viability assay, while antioxidant property was examined using an in vitro H2O2 scavenging method. The β-alanine hydrazide derivative 3a showed a remarkable IC50 value of 18.8 μg/mL, whereas its corresponding thiosemicarbazide 5b exhibited moderate activeness with an IC50 value of 26.89 μg/mL. This work deals with the study on the optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra of a p-type organic semiconducting polymer, regioregular poly 3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl (P3HT) and the absorption spectra of an n-type fullerene-based small-gap fullerene-ethyl nipecotate (Fullerene-EN) and a non-fullerene-based polynaphthalene bithiophene (N2200) semiconducting materials. The band gap of P3HT, N2200, and small-gap fullerene-ethyl nipecotate are 2.42, 1.65, and 1.51 eV, respectively, calculated from experimental results through the Tauc equation. This study developed a novel C-sharp (C#) programming language for the estimation of bubble point pressure (BPP) of various hydrocarbon mixtures at equilibrium state. The methodology was based on vapor–liquid equilibrium calculation using Peng Robinson equation of state implementation, thermodynamic equilibrium calculation and Newton-Raphson’s method for the successive substitution of the unknown variables. The equal fugacity constraint can be satisfied by obtaining the equilibrium which serves as a criterion for two or more phases to exist at equilibrium. The current study presents the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) which synthesized with AgNO3 as precursor salt and Jatropha curcas leaf extract. J. curcas leaf extract has phytochemicals that could reduce the precursor metal salt to nanoparticles and act as a capping agent surround the nanoparticles to enhance its stability. In the current study, the roots of Quercus agrifolia Nee were subjected to phytochemical analysis to determine the presence of various compound groups. To explore the effect of Quercus agrifolia Nee roots, we evaluated four solvent extracts, namely, crude ethanolic extract (CEE), n-hexane, chloroform (CHCl3), and ethyl acetate (EtOAc), for their antibacterial, antifungal, and hemagglutination activities. We proposed a technique for improving the platinum (Pt) Schottky contact dark current of the AlN/GaN/AlN/Si(111) substrate. The AlN/GaN/AlN/ heterostructure sample was successfully grown on a silicon substrate by radio frequency molecular beam epitaxy. The high quality of the interlayer heterostructure sample was verified by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). From the TEM image, a good quality single interface layer with spacing less than 1 nm was detected. Tin mining was the predominate mining industry in Malaysia, especially during the mid-19th century. Most of the former mining areas have been reused for aquaculture purposes. This study aims to determine the yield of wild spinach seed oil obtained by continuous extraction methods using Soxhlet apparatus for 10.5 hours in n-hexane solvent, the physio-chemical properties, and the composition of wild spinach seed oil using the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) method. Refinement of wild spinach seed oil was done by degumming and neutralization. The yield of wild spinach seed oil extraction before refinement was 4.36 ± 0.29% (w/w) while after refinement was 0.68 ± 0.033% (w/w). As a business center and the most populous subdistrict, East Tanjung Karang in Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Indonesia, is considered an area with excessive groundwater exploitation. This activity can trigger ground fissures that can consequently cause damage to buildings and roads. In this study, microtremor recordings from 17 sites were collected and analyzed by using the horizontal to vertical spectral ratio and ellipticity curve method. Study of doping process of metal oxide Cr(III) onto bentonite for phenol removal has been done. The purpose of this study was to increase the capacity and effectiveness of bentonite adsorption.The doped bentonite was characterized using XRD, SEM-EDX and FT-IR spectrophotometer analysis. XRD characterization result showed an angle shift (2θ) characteristic at1.609°. The SEM-EDX characterization result showed that bentonite as control have a more gaps than Cr(III)-doped bentonite. In this study, analysis of water, and soil samples, air quality, and noise levels in Ukawu Pb-Zn mine were examined. The pH of the water samples, at 6.7, exceeded permissible levels for potable water established by the National Environmental Standard Regulatory Agency (NESREA), European Union, and World Health Organization (i.e., 7.0-8.5). The soil pH was 5.2, which indicates acidity due to acid mine drainage. Low soil pH is evidence of acid mine drainage. This study analyzed the effect of chromium metal accumulation on magnesium absorption and chlorophyll content in vegetables. The effect of accumulation was determined by performing controlled experimental methods on planting media supplemented with chromium and by directly observing vegetables grown in chromium-polluted areas, such as mountain, rice field, street, and industrial areas. Cluster analysis is used to determine possible lithology groupings on the basis of information from seismic data. Specifically, k-means is used in the cluster analysis of different lithologies. The data center is determined randomly and updated through an iterative process (unsupervised). The cluster analysis process involves combinations of complex seismic attributes and spectral decomposition as inputs. The complex seismic attributes are reflection strength and cosine phase. Reflection strength clearly describes the lithology boundary while the cosine phase describes the lithologies. Spectral decomposition is used to detect the presence of channels. Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are small peptides that can transfer other materials into a cellular compartment. In this research, we studied the effect of fusion of new CPPs to the N-terminal of enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein eGFP on the ability of the latter to fluoresce. Results showed that the recombinant protein CPPs-eGFP could be successfully expressed in Escherichia coli. In contrast to E. coli expressing wild-type eGFP, which could fluoresce under ultraviolet (UV) or visible light, E. coli expressing CPPs-eGFP lost their ability to fluoresce.
