Diversity Analysis Of Genetic, Agronomic, And Quality Characteristics Of Bread Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L.) Cultivars Grown In Turkey, Mustafa Erayman, Emre İlhan, Abdi̇l Hakan Eren, Hüseyi̇n Güngör, Batuhan Akgöl

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Turkey is an important bread wheat producer. The objective of this study was to dissect the diversity of genetic, agronomic, and quality characteristics of bread wheat cultivars grown on 25% of the total wheat area in Turkey. A total of 24 wheat cultivars and 5 wild progenitors of wheat were examined using 24 simple sequence repeat (SSR) primers with a known physical locus on the A, B, and D genomes of hexaploid wheat. A total of 72 bands produced 939 alleles on the wheat cultivars and wild progenitors. Markers were efficient in discriminating the species and the highest genetic diversity …

Impact Of Passive Modified Atmosphere Packaging On Physicochemical Properties, Bioactive Compounds, And Quality Attributes Of Sweet Pomegranates, Nurten Selçuk, Mustafa Erkan Jan 2016

Impact Of Passive Modified Atmosphere Packaging On Physicochemical Properties, Bioactive Compounds, And Quality Attributes Of Sweet Pomegranates, Nurten Selçuk, Mustafa Erkan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The effects of two different types of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on the physicochemical properties, biochemical composition, and storage quality of sweet pomegranate variety Beynarı were investigated during long-term storage. Pomegranates were harvested at the commercial harvest stage and packed in two different commercial types of MAP (MAP1, sealed in packages made of Xtend® film; MAP2, sealed in bags made of ZOEPAC). Unpacked fruits stored in plastic boxes were used as the control. Following packaging treatments, all packed and unpacked fruit samples were stored at 6 ± 0.5 °C and 90 ± 5% relative humidity for 120 days, and they …

Boron Affects The Yield And Quality Of Nonirrigated Pistachio (Pistacia Vera L.) Trees, İzzet Açar, İlhan Doran, Nevzat Aslan, Ni̇lgün Kalkanci Jan 2016

Boron Affects The Yield And Quality Of Nonirrigated Pistachio (Pistacia Vera L.) Trees, İzzet Açar, İlhan Doran, Nevzat Aslan, Ni̇lgün Kalkanci

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

In Turkey, more than 95% of the pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) orchards are not irrigated. Therefore, a 4-year field trial was conducted to determine the effect of Tarımbor fertiliser (containing 18.5% boron [B]) on the yield, quality, and B content of two pistachio cultivars ('Uzun' and 'Siirt') planted under nonirrigated conditions. Tarımbor was applied to the pistachio trees as a soil application (0, 200, 400, and 600 g/tree) and a foliar spray (0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3% w/v, using a tractor-mounted sprayer at the 'early bud break' stage and the 'fully leafed out' stage). Both the soil and foliar applications …
