Biopolymer Generation From Sweet Sorghum Juice: Screening, Isolation, Identification, And Fermentative Polyhydroxyalkanoate Production By Bacillus Aryabhattai, Varavut Tanamool, Tsuyoshi Imai, Paiboon Danvirutai, Pakawadee Kaewkannetra
Turkish Journal of Biology
This study aims to use sweet sorghum juice (SSJ) to produce an environmentally friendly biopolymer of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) by bacteria isolated from soil. Among 18 isolates, only 3 isolates, coded as S4, S6, and S11, were chosen to produce PHA via batch fermentation compared to 3 strains of Alcaligenes eutrophus, A. latus, and Hydrogenophaga sp., respectively, under controlled conditions at pH 7, 35 °C, and 20 g/L of initial total sugar in the SSJ. The results clearly showed that the isolate S4 can produce maximum PHAs of 1.74 g/L with 57.62% dry cell weight and yield maximum hourly productivity at …

The Utilization Of Lignocellulosic Wastes For Laccase Production Under Semisolid-State And Submerged Fermentation Conditions, Emre Bi̇rhanli, Özfer Yeşi̇lada
Turkish Journal of Biology
The aim of this study was to produce laccase enzymes by using various lignocellulosic wastes (LCWs) under semisolid-state (SsF) and submerged fermentation (SF) conditions. White rot fungi are the best laccase-producing organisms and they can be easily grown on LCW. Thus, in this work, Trametes trogii (Berk.) ATCC 200800 and Trametes versicolor (L.) ATCC 200801, well-known laccase-producing white rot fungi, were used as laccase-producing organisms. According to the literature, some of the LCWs such as sunflower receptacle, apricot seed shell, and bulrush were tested first as substrates for laccase production by these fungi. In SsF, the maximum laccase activities were …
Sustainable Approach To Produce Bioethanol From Karanja (Pongamia Pinnata) Oilseed Residue, Pooja Doshi, Gopal Srivastava
Sustainable Approach To Produce Bioethanol From Karanja (Pongamia Pinnata) Oilseed Residue, Pooja Doshi, Gopal Srivastava
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Agricultural biomass is the world's largest, most sustainable, and most promising renewable energy source. This study investigated the potential of Karanja (Pongamia pinnata) oilseed residual waste (defatted kernel, hull, and their mixture) as a source of ethanol. The pretreatment of the finely ground samples was carried out using dilute sulfuric acid (0.5%) hydrolysis at a higher temperature of 121 °C and 15 psi pressure for 90 min. The pretreatment usually removes the lignin and facilitates the hydrolysis of cellulose and hemicelluloses. They were further hydrolyzed using 5% H_2SO_4 at 50 °C for 70 h. The analyses of hydrolyzed products have …
