Turkish Journal of Biology

The present study evaluated the in vitro antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antiviral activities of the essential oil and various extracts of Salvia limbata C.A.Mey. and Salvia sclarea L., as well as the content of its essential oil. The activities of essential oils were tested against a wide range of human-, plant-, and food-borne microorganisms. A total of 55 microbial organisms belonging to 35 bacteria and 19 fungi and yeast species were tested using disk diffusion, micro dilution, and micro-well dilution. Nutlet Surface Micromorphology Of The Genus Nepeta L. (Lamiaceae) In Turkey, Ayla Kaya, Tuncay Di̇rmenci̇

Nutlet characters within the genus Nepeta L. are of taxonomic significance. In this study, the nutlet morphology of 39 taxa of Turkish Nepeta species was examined using both stereoscopic and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). According to surface ornamentations, 3 main types, smooth, partly smooth, and sculptured, and 7 subtypes, undulate-ridged, cellular, reticulate, protuberance, papillate, verrucate, and tuberculate, were defined and illustrated. In addition, the unknown nutlet features of N. conferta Hedge & Lamond, N. crinita Montbret & Aucher ex Bentham, and N. viscida Boiss. are given for the first time here in detail. Comparative Morphological, Anatomical, And Palynological Studies On The Genus Stachys L. Sect. Ambleia Bentham (Lamiaceae) Species In Turkey, Muhi̇tti̇n Di̇nç, Meryem Öztürk

In this study, comparative morphological, anatomical and palynological studies of Stachys L. sect. Ambleia Bentham species (Lamiaceae) in Turkey are carried out on the plants collected from their type localities. These species are Stachys cydni Kotschy ex Gemici & Leblebici and S. yildirimlii M. Dinç, which are highly local endemics. Morphologically, micromorphological features of the trichomes are studied. Trichome morphology appears to have a taxonomic value with respect to the results.
