One More Allium Species For The Turkish Flora: Allium Saxatile, Fatma Neri̇man Özhatay, Mi̇ne Koçyi̇ği̇t, Emi̇ne Akalin Uruşak

Turkish Journal of Botany

Allium saxatile M.Bieb. was collected from the north-western corner of European Turkey (Demirköy, Kırklareli) during the field survey of the "Yıldız Mountain Biosphere Project". It has been reported as a new record for the Turkish flora. A description based on the collected specimens, photographs of its habitat and flowering plants, map of the distribution area, and its karyotype are given.

Turkish Journal of Biology

In this study, the karyotypes of 13 taxa of the tribe Lactuceae growing naturally in Turkey were examined. Of the species of the genus Scorzonera L. (Asteraceae), S. laciniata L. subsp. laciniata, S. cana (C.A.Mey.) Hoffm. var. jacquiniana (W.Koch) Chamb., S. suberosa C.Koch subsp. suberosa, S. mollis M.Bieb. subsp. mollis, S. papposa DC., S. lacera Boiss. & Bal., S. elata Boiss., and S. parviflora Jacq. have a diploid chromosome number of 2n = 14. For S. phaeopappa (Boiss.) Boiss., this number is 2n = 28, and for S. eriophora DC., S. pseudolanata Grossh., S. tomentosa L., and S. kotschyi Boiss., …

Chromosome Counts And Karyomorphology Of Some Species Of Artemisia (Asteraceae) From Turkey, Selma Tabur, Şemsetti̇n Ci̇velek, Si̇ğnem Öney, Şadi̇ye Betül Yilmaz Ergün, Murat Kurşat, İsmai̇l Türkoğlu

Turkish Journal of Botany

Chromosome numbers and karyotypes of some species belonging to the genus Artemisia L. (Asteraceae) were investigated, and chromosome counts of 12 species, 1 of which was counted for the first time, are presented with a thorough compilation of previously published data. All of the species studied belong to the subgenus Artemisia Chromosome numbers of 6 taxa confirmed the previous data. Additionally, karyotypes of 8 species were reported. Karyotype analyses of 6 Artemisia species are reported here for the first time. The basic chromosome numbers in the species studied were x = 8 and x = 9, with ploidy levels ranging …

Karyological Characteristics, Morphological Peculiarities, And A New Distribution Locality For Talpa Davidiana (Mammalia: Soricomorpha) In Turkey, Mustafa Sözen, Ferhat Matur, Faruk Çolak, Sercan Irmak Jan 2012

Karyological Characteristics, Morphological Peculiarities, And A New Distribution Locality For Talpa Davidiana (Mammalia: Soricomorpha) In Turkey, Mustafa Sözen, Ferhat Matur, Faruk Çolak, Sercan Irmak

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Talpa davidiana is the least known species of the genus Talpa, and the karyotype of this species is still unknown. Its distribution records are also very scattered. The karyological, cranial, and pelvic characteristics of 2 samples from Kızıldağ in Adana Province were analyzed for the first time. It was determined that T. davidiana has 2n = 34, NF = 66, and NFa = 62. The X chromosome was large and metacentric and the Y chromosome was dot-like acrocentric. The 2 samples are different from each other, and from previous T. davidiana records, in terms of their lower incisor and premolar …
