This key has been produced to make identification of Maireana species (the bluebushes) easier in the arid shrublands region of Western Australia. It attempts to use everyday terms rather than technical botanical terms wherever possible and includes an illustrated diagram for ease of identification. A flow diagram - as opposed to traditional botanical keys - allows for visual tracking of steps taken in the key and hence makes it easier to backtrack if the final identified species seems incorrect.Fruit chacters alluded to at various steps in the key are also presented, and drawings of each species fruits are also included …

Floristic Survey Of Northern Sandplains Between Perth And Geraldton, Edward Arnold Griffin

A database of plant lists from over 2,500 sites was compiled from the the Northern Sandplains between Perth and Geraldton. Over 2,500 plant taxa were recorded from the area. Preliminary classification revealed in the order of 500 different floristic types. Analysis of these demonstrated strong regional patterns of floristic composition related to geology and soils. Consistencies in these patterns indicated a need to review the location of some of the botanical district boundaries.

The series Trees of Western Australia, which appeared in The Journal of Agriculture of Western Australia, was commenced in 1952 by Charles Austin Gardner, Government Botanist and Curator of the Western Australian Herbarium from 1929 to1960. Until his death in 1970 Gardner published in the series 29 articles, dealing with 117 species of Eucalyptus, the last article appearing in 1966.

The articles are of historical and scientific interest. They contain valuable original information on the phytogeography and taxonomy of over half of the Western Australian species of Eucalyptus, based largely on Gardner's personal observations made in the course …
