Delimiting Species And Varieties Of Cycladenia Humilis (Apocynaceae), Holly Kathryn Brabazon
Delimiting Species And Varieties Of Cycladenia Humilis (Apocynaceae), Holly Kathryn Brabazon
Theses and Dissertations
Taxonomic delimitation of rare species is vital for accurate assessments of diversity and for their conservation. Cycladenia humilis, the sole species of Cycladenia, is an enigmatic perennial widely dispersed across the western United States. Within this species there are three currently recognized varieties: C. humilis var. humilis in Northern California, C. humilis var. venusta in Southern California, and C. humilis var. jonesii in Utah and Northern Arizona. Some populations occur geographically in areas between the typical distribution of each variety and the presently accepted taxonomy inadequately addresses these populations. Using five nDNA regions, we seek to clarify relationships between current …
Evaluation Of The Nutritional Quality Of Twelve Species Of Grass Tolerant To Salt And Drought In Function To Their Dry Matter Accumulation Curve In The Tamborada Region, Julio César Bustamante Alavi
Evaluation Of The Nutritional Quality Of Twelve Species Of Grass Tolerant To Salt And Drought In Function To Their Dry Matter Accumulation Curve In The Tamborada Region, Julio César Bustamante Alavi
Theses and Dissertations
Currently, livestock production in the Andean highlands of Bolivia is done with low food efficiency due to the free range grazing system. This in turn leads to nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, it is necessary to substitute these grass species for others that fulfill nutritional requirements. Our main objective was to determine the species of grass with the best nutritional quality. Of the 12 species, only 11 were analyzed because the species Didtichlis stricta did not germinate. Five monthly samples were taken after the cut (ddc) at the following intervals: 50, 81, 112, 141, and 176 days. These samples were analyzed in …
Evaluation Of The Agronomic Performance Of Six Varieties Of Peanut (Arachis Hypogaea L.) In The St. Felix Community Of The Coroico Township (Nor Yungas-La Paz), Viviana Marleni Quisbert
Evaluation Of The Agronomic Performance Of Six Varieties Of Peanut (Arachis Hypogaea L.) In The St. Felix Community Of The Coroico Township (Nor Yungas-La Paz), Viviana Marleni Quisbert
Theses and Dissertations
The peanut is an important crop in most countries due to its industrial, nutritional, and pedological potential. It grows well in subtropical areas. This study was planned based on the weather characteristics of the Yungas and the St. Felix community. A completely randomized block design with 6 treatments and 3 repetitions was used. An analysis of variance and a Tukey test were used for statistical analysis of the variables. With respect to time required for maturation, the Coloradito Palmar variety was most premature with a time of 134 days while the Local variety took 177 days to mature, which is …
Biochemical And Morphological Analyses Of The Hordeum Jubatum-Brachyantherum-Caespitosum Hybrid Complex, Gareth Roz Babbel
Biochemical And Morphological Analyses Of The Hordeum Jubatum-Brachyantherum-Caespitosum Hybrid Complex, Gareth Roz Babbel
Theses and Dissertations
Hordeum jubatum L., Hordeum brachyantherum nevski, and Hordeum jubatum var. caespitosum (Scribn.) Hitchc. Plants from sites in Utah and Idaho were grown and examined in order to determine whether or not hybridization with subsequent introgression occurs among the species and if so whether there is a difference in the relative amount of gene flow between the parent species H. jubatum and H. brachyantherum in different environments. Hybridizations and morphological analyses were made using standard procedures. Biochemical analyses were made by comparing paper chromatograms of leaf extracts of plant specimens. The results indicate that in Utah populations sampled, hybridization with subsequent …
