This work contains the results of the zoological expedition of the Società Romana di Scienze Naturali to Kashan, in Iran. Four days of intensive field research provided interesting data on the community structure of scorpions of Kashan. Thirty-two scorpion specimens, all belonging to the family Buthidae, are listed and ecological notes are included. Iranobuthus krali Kovařík, 1997, Kraepelinia palpator (Birula, 1903) and Polisius persicus Fet, Capes & Sissom, 2001 were found for the first time in the examined localities. The species collected belong to different ecomorpho-types, characteristic for the particular geographic position of Kashan. We report presence of two species …

Taxonomic Revision Of The Genus Poa L. In Iran, New Additions To Flora Iranica, And A New Identification Key, Mahsa Kavousi, Mostafa Assadi, Taher Nejadsattari

Turkish Journal of Botany

In this study, an identification key of Poa L. species in Iran and descriptions of all species are presented. Based on the results, 19 species and 4 subspecies of Poa are known from Iran. Two species, P. longifolia Trin. and P. sterilis M.Bieb., are new records for the flora of Iran. Some taxa such as P. versicolor Besser. subsp. araratica (Trautv.) Tzvelev and P. bactriana Roshev. subsp. glabriflora (Roshev. ex Ovcz.) Tzvelev were placed as subspecies. Poa supina Schrad. and P. aitchisonii Boiss. were not confirmed to occur in Iran since they were observed neither among the herbarium specimens nor …

Pollen Morphology Of The Genus Alchemilla L. (Rosaceae) In Iran, Marzieh Beygom Faghir, Farideh Attar, Robabeh Shahi Shavvon, Atefeh Mehrmanesh

Turkish Journal of Botany

This paper reports the morphological characters of 18 Iranian species of the genus Alchemilla using light and scanning electron microscopy. The pollen grains are monad, radially symmetrical, isopolar, or subisopolar; small to medium in size; tri- and tetracolporate; rectangular to cylindrical (from equatorial view) and triangular to circular (from polar view) in outline; and prolate-spheroidal to subprolate and prolate in shape. The exine ornamentation is psilate and microechinate. Based on the exine sculpturing and microechinate distribution pattern, three main types, four subtypes, and two categories of pollen grains were recognized. We used cluster analysis and principal component analysis to determine …

Alloxysta circumscripta and A. Darci are cited for the first time from Iran. In total, 91 host associations (Charipinae-Aphidiinae-Aphid-host plant) are recorded, of which 23 are new to science. New trophic relationships are also recorded for Iran for A. Brevis, A. Mullensis, and P. Villosa. Diagnoses, …
