Boat-Based Recreational Fishing Catch And Effort In Cockburn Sound And Owen Anchorage During 1996/97, 2001/02 And 2005/06, Neil Sumner, Eva Lai

Fisheries research contract reports

This report presents catch and effort estimates from three surveys of boat-based fishers. Recreational anglers used lines with bait or lures to catch fish. Boat-based crabbers either use drop nets or catch crabs by hand whilst diving or snorkelling. Surveys of recreational fishing activities that included coverage of Cockburn Sound were conducted during 1996/1997 (Sumner and Williamson, 1999), in 2001/02 (Sumner and Malseed, 2004) and in 2005/06 (Sumner et al., 2008). The wheat variety guide summarises performance characteristics of commercially available wheats which have undergone testing in the National Variety Testing Project (NVT), and Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA) wheat agronomy project.

This information includes variety summaries, agronomic, disease and herbicide tolerance characteristics and medium to long-term yield performance. There is a review of regional NVT performance, time of sowing experiments and observed flowering dates in 2011. By combining agronomy research outcomes with other related wheat research this document provides current information to assist with variety choice and management for 2012.

The Status Reports of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of Western Australia provide the public with an annual update on the state of the fish and other aquatic resources of Western Australia managed by the Department. These reports outline the cumulative risk status for each of the ecological resources (assets) within WA’s six Bioregions using an Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management (EBFM) approach.
