The Growth And Reproduction Characteristics Of Chub Leuciscus Cephalus Orientalis (Nordmann, 1840) Living In The River Aras, Mustafa Türkmen, H. İbrahi̇m Hali̇loğlu, Orhan Erdoğan, Ayhan Yildirim

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the populations structure, growth and reproduction characteristics of 1091 Leuciscus cephalus orientalis from the Yagan Region of River Aras between December 1995 and November 1997 were investigated monthly. The age composition of this species ranged between I and VIII. Individuals were composed of 48.85% males and 51.15% females. Female individuals attained greater size and age than males. The largest Female captured was 27.5 cm FL and age VIII, while the largest male was 24.1 cm FL and age VIII. Von Bertalanffy growth equations (in length and weight) and length-weight relationships were found as Lt=32.47(1-e -0.1217(t+1.63) ), Wt=502.10(1-e …

The Growth Features Of Pike (Esox Lucius L., 1758) In Dam Lake Kesikköprü, Ahmet Altindağ, Si̇bel Yi̇ği̇t, Seyhan Ahiska, Şaki̇r Özkurt

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the growth properties of pike (Esox lucius L., 1758) in Dam Lake Kesikköprü between April 1995 and March 1996 were examined. In the examined samples, the age of females and males ranged from I-V and I-IV respectively. The population was composed of 55 % males and 45' % females. The forked length and weight of females and males varied from 18,7 to 49,4 cm., from 265 to 1100 g, and from 16,5 to 53,0 cm., from 260 to 1140 g., respectively. Age-length and age-weight relations were calculated according to the von Bertalanffy growth equation formula. The following …

Growth Properties Of Bass (Dicentrarchus Labrax (L., 1758), Perciformes: Serranidae) Live In Akgöl-Paradeniz Lagoon In Göksu Delta, Serap Ergene Gözükara

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The age composition of 415 specimens of Dicentrarchus labrax caught from Akgöl-Paradeniz Lagoon, between February 1992 and July 1994, ranged between 0.-X. age groups.. The II.nd ages group of D. labrax is dominant in all individuals with a rate of 32.05 %. Average fork lenght according to ages group of D.labrax is ranged between 177,14 mm. and 700,0 mm. Average weight value according to ages group of D.labrax is varied between 63.35 and 3475 g..The value of condition factor for all indivuduals is determined for 2nd ages as 2.31 maximum and for 2nd age as 0.60 minimum. The annual and …

The Effect Of Water On Growth, Food Consumption, Feces Quantity, Digestive Activity And Glycogen Level Of Gryllus Bimaculatus (Orthoptera: Gryllidae), Ati̇la Yanikoğlu Jan 1999

The Effect Of Water On Growth, Food Consumption, Feces Quantity, Digestive Activity And Glycogen Level Of Gryllus Bimaculatus (Orthoptera: Gryllidae), Ati̇la Yanikoğlu

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the effect of water on growth (wet weight gain), food consumption, feces quantity, digestive activity and glycogen level of Gryllus bimaculatus female adults was investigated by doing the experiments of feeding and starvation. Wheat bran was given for feeding. All parameters were found to be significantly higher in insects feeding with water than those feeding without water. A significant difference did not occur in mean wet weight and glycogen level in insects either feeding without water or starved for one week. At the end of the experimental period, a wet weight gain (43%) was observed only in …

Some Biological Characteristics Of Picarel (Spicara Smaris, Linnaeus 1758) In The Eastern Black Sea Coast Of Turkey, Temel Şahi̇n, Yaşar Genç Jan 1999

Some Biological Characteristics Of Picarel (Spicara Smaris, Linnaeus 1758) In The Eastern Black Sea Coast Of Turkey, Temel Şahi̇n, Yaşar Genç

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the following biological characteristics of picarel (Spicara smaris, Linnaeus 1758) in the Eastern Black Sea Coast have been examined: sex and age distribution, growth in length and weight, growth rates, condition factor and spawning period. A total of 456 individuals, ranged between age groups I-VI, have been composed by 61.41 % females, 38.58 a/o males. The length and weight differences between females and males were significant in age group II (P

Some Biological Characteristics Of Sprat (Sprattus Sprattus Phalericus Risso, 1826) On The Eastern Black Sea Coast, Temel Şahi̇n

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, biological characteristics i.e. sex and age distribution, growth (in length and weight), growth rates, and condition factor of sprat (Sprattus sprattus phalericus) from the Eastern Blak Sea coast have been examined. The percentage of females and males was 57.53 % and 42.47 % out of 372 specimens which ranged between age group I and IV. Age groups II and III were also predominant in the catch composition. The mean length values were 10.72±0.052 cm for females, 10.67±0.253 cm for males and 10.69±0.038 for both sexes (female+male). The length and weight differences between females and males were not …

Growth Properties Of Chub (Leuciscus Cephalus L., 1758) In Lake Tödürge (Zara/Sivas), Bülent Ünver, Jüli̇de Tanyolaç

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this research, sex and age compositions, age-length, age-weight, length-weight relations, condition factors were investigated on 674 chub (Leuciscus cephalus L., 1758) specimens caught from Lake Tödürge, Sivas between April and November 1994. The age composition of L. cephalus specimens were between I-VII years and sex percentages were calculated as 68.25 % for females and 31.75 % for males. Determined minimum and maximum forklength values were 53 and 299 mm; weights were 1.5 and 347.1 g. Von Bertalanffy equations of L. cephalus specimens as length-growth and weight-growth were established as L_t = 474.19 [1-e^{-0.10608(t+0.3805)}] for females; L_t = 545.26 [1-e …
